The Rutland is a rather beautiful building that stands royally overlooking the centre of Bakewell. It has a very rich history and this isn't overlooked with the traditional feel inside. There is also information to be found in the many pictures and literature in the hotel. It offered an interesting additional feature to my stay. Car parking is available but appeared to be limited. Its across the road from the hotel. We arrived much earlier than check in but we were able to park. Later on, the car park was busy and there seemed to be no spaces left so it may be advisable to get there early. Checking in was straightforward. The concierge was lovely, very polite, taking time to talk to us in an unhurried way. I just loved the ambience of this hotel. Its warm, full of so many interesting pieces of art and ornaments that you simply don't know where to look! I don't know if the rooms are dog friendly but the reception is with a doggy service station which had water and free biscuits, a wonderful touch for pooches. We had a luxury suite which did not disappoint. It combined a wonderful modern bathroom with traditional 'country house' soft furnishings perfectly. 10 out of 10 for whoever styled this hotel, its spot on. I'm a fussy customer when it comes to cleanliness and the Rutland gets ten out of ten also. Everywhere, even the skirting boards, was immaculate. Bedding, towels, curtains glasses and cups all spotless. We looked onto the square and there was a little noise which was to be expected but this subsided at an acceptable time in order to be able to sleep. Other than that it was very quiet indeed. We stayed for breakfast in the Rutlands beautiful dining room, perfect decor and unusual touches made this experience in itself above expectations. We checked out easily and again staff were polite and interested. I enjoyed my overnight stay very much in this beautiful hoteland hope to return in the future.

I found the Rutland Arms on the Internet and loved the look of the Hotel and Rooms. We not only received what was expected but so much more. David and Liam where so helpful when we called and during our stay. The whole staff was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Centered in the Middle of Bakewell allowed us to explore this wonderful town especially the walk along the river. Thank you so very Much! Look forward to staying there again.

A very relaxing and enjoyable 2 night stay in a deluxe room on the 2nd floor with a great view of Bakewell. Fantastic bathroom and beautifully furnished room. Had breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea in the Eatery. Delicious food and generous portions served in a gorgeous room. Bakewell pudding with custard was amazing! Lovely to sit outside with a drink watching the world go by or sit in the comfortable lounge with so many interesting things to look at. We will be back- thank you!

I stopped in for a coffee and was very impressed. They do a selection of teas and coffees, milkshakes and cold brews. They are reasonably priced and the decor inside is lovely with cosy pub feel. Our drinks even came with a little shot glass of Maltesers. Great place to stop in for a nice hot drink and somewhere comfortable to rest your feet after all the sightseeing.

Hotel is clean and welcoming. The staff are very polite and helpful. Parking at the hotel is limited, however. The area of Bakewell is well served with pubs and shops, surrounded by nearby natural beauty.

Nice to see that the Rutland is still as good as it was some years ago when we visited before. It is centrally located and is handy for everything to do with Bakewell and beyond (Chatsworth House). We had a very pleasant stay and were looked after very well by the Staff.

Stayed in Lady Cavendish Room. How beautiful. Little things make a big impression, handwritten welcome note, radio on, little bars of delicious chocolate. Views over Bakewell were stunning. Hotel is amazing and has kept all its character. Staff were lovely especially the lovely young lady on reception whose name I'm saddened to say I don't remember. We will most definitely stay here again.

Just called in for a cup of tea but given the attitude and poor customer service would not entertain staying here. The bar person so rude I have no idea where she gets her manners from it rather lack of manners and the other member of staff we spoke to was equally u helpful I’d give it a miss 15 may 2023

It was out first night in the lovely town of Bakewell, so we were wondering around in the evening looking for somewhere to eat and have a couple of drinks. Being a bank holiday Monday, a lot of pubs were no longer serving food. We came across this place who said they were very much serving food still. We enjoyed a lovely local pint of Thornbridge beer before taking to the beautiful dining area for some food. It wasn't the MOST innovative menu, but more than did the job for us. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was really nicely cooked, I swapped out the fries for chunky chips which were good too. While the burger was VERY well sized, half the plate was taken up by undressed salad garnish. Salad garnish is obviously a normality in most restaurants, but this was the most I'd ever seen! A little drizzle of oil or something for that much salad would have been lovely. My wife had fish and chips and was very satisfied. Both quite full, we shared a Bakewell Pudding (you have to really don't you) which was also very nice. The service staff were nice and attentive.
