We came here for a birthday meal and the food was lovely. The children's menu has all of the usual favourites and my daughter ate all of her pasta with gusto! I had the burger which was huge and tasty :-) Good food and a glorious views - what more could you want?

We didn't stay at the hotel, just called in for a pub meal. The service was good but I don't know how the food at this pub got a certificate of excellence. I have eaten there twice, the first time it was mediocre. The second time was terrible. I had fish and chips. The chips were undercooked and hard. There...

My wife booked a two night break for us and the dog without checking on Tripadvisor. I had a look at some of the poor reviews and my first inclination was to cancel and book somewhere else. Due to short notice and the fact it was August, we didn't find any suitable alternative, so decided to go anyway. Expectations suitably...

We were in a group of 12 with 4 children and 8 adults. We booked at short notice for Sunday dinner and were seated in the large restaurant room on our own. We were allowed to bring a dog which we were told was not normally allowed. Although pleasant enough it was all a bit deserted and the bar looked...

I've given this hotel "average" because I suspect that if it wasn't in such an amazing place, it would have to up its game, although having said that, the food was surprisingly good....but I did say "surprisingly"! So, why the contrasts? The hotel building and general presentation needs some love and attention. Others have commented on the rotten windows. The pictures,...

Great location - we walked down to the viaduct to work up an appetite for the lovely dinner. Bar was really busy but we sat outside in the evening sun - glorious! Hotel room was well equipped and newly refurbished although we were at the back overlooking the car park so missed out on the views of the countryside setting.

We didn't stay at this hotel but ate in their stables restaurant. There were 5 of us and we all decided to have the roast lamb, that was until the people on the next table had theirs served and promptly sent it back because the meat was raw. We ordered the fish and chips and guess what...the chips were completely...

We booked this hotel as it was dog friendly and in good walking area. However, although the view from the bedroom was stunning we could not open the windows as they had rotted. We moved from our initial room as I told the receptionist that with a big dog like ours the room needed to have fresh air. In the...

Monday lunchtime and a bar meal in the courtyard of the Stables bar - the place was buzzing with people. A limited lunch menu (and sandwiches not cheap at £6 but really tasty!) and a good range of beers in the bar - pity a 250ml glass of Pinot Grigio is getting on for £7 - a bit rich. However,...

Good meal for the family. All food was of a consistent high standard. Lovely situation. Sun setting over the peak district. Easy to park good quality beers on tap. We were on holiday and this place lived up to its review history.
