Lovely relaxed stay. Landlord and Landlady were very welcoming and helpful. Great place to watch the football in the afternoon. Food was good quality and good value. The rooms were in converted buildings to the rear. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was usual fare. All in all a great place for a group of friends away for the evening.

Stayed 1 night. Warm welcome. Clean comfortable room which was not in the pub but just across the yard it was very quiet. I didn't hear any occupants from other rooms. All plumbing was quiet too. Ample parking. Good pub food. Good breakfast. All the staff were lovely. Already planning a return trip.

Situated high up with glorious views, this hotel is within easy reach of the town centre by car and, happily, far enough away from Matlock Bath which, most unexpectedly, resembled the promenade at Southend with its countless fish and chip shops interspersed with amusement arcades. After a long journey, when it would have been nice to take a short nap,...

Had cause to visit on 3 occasions whilst on holiday. Highlight was Sunday lunch - good quality food and plenty of it. Other visits were also found to be as welcomeng and 2 more lots of good pub grub from the 2 for £12 menu. Couldn't go wrong.

Staff could have been a little more attentative on arrival and the en-suite was nice but would prefer a Bath, lovely and warm comfortable room but no Wifi ? not a bad place to stay and reasonable price, not in the town and is a good walk into town.

Clean and comfortable rooms. The rooms are separate from the main pub building, so are very quiet. Even though the pub is situated on the main Chesterfield rd. The only problem that I found was, the mirror position was at best difficult to use for drying hair and make up application and was poorly lit.All the staff on duty during our...

We have just spent 5 nights at the Duke. We arrived on Sun, and was in time for the Sunday Roast, which was a substantial serving (served until 6pm). We then ate in house every evening during our stay, as the menu offers 2 main courses for £12, and an 8oz Rump Steak for £9.95. The staff and locals are...

We stayed as a group of 9 in 5 Double Rooms for 2 nights, so we could enjoy a walking weekend and a friends reunion. The accommodation is good. Each room was located in a separate building to the pub itself. Rooms were of a good size and well decorated, they had good beds and were well stocked with tea...
