Lots of history in this Weatherspoon's hotel. Rooms tastefully renovated within the limits of an old building. Friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. Expect some noise in certain rooms that face the marketplace, especially on market days when traders are erecting stalls from 5 a.m. or those that face onto the extractor fans from the kitchens. Liked the...

Stayed a couple of nights at the Unicorn as the last Wetherspoons we stay at, (Peebles), was excellent. The Unicorn did not disappoint. Lovely large room, clean, with all facilities. Staff very helpful, food and drink exactly .what you expect from a Wetherspoons pub. Decorators had started work on the interior while we were there which will really smarten up...

A very good experience with the room and its facilities. beds comfortable tea coffee drinking water supplied . access up the narrow staircase is not easy with luggage and toilet users going the opposite way! The breakfast staff seemed to be under extreme pressure and some choices were not available.

We stayed at the Hotel because we visited Ripon in July of the previous year, and realised that it deserved more time than we could give on that occasion. Considering that the hotel stands on the Market Place, we found it amazingly quiet for a Friday evening, and as usual the food at Wetherspoon's was good, very reasonable and serve...

Chose to stay at the Unicorn in Ripon for a visit to the races. Never visited Ripon before so didn't really know what to expect, but booked this Wetherspoons as there were few options in the area for the dates we needed. Price was very reasonable considering the races were on, so expectations were limited. Such a lovely surprise!! Welcomed...

We stayed here for a Saturday night break. Had an evening meal of rump steak which was delicious. Best I've had for years. Room was large and quite. Breakfast was good value but took over 10 minutes to order at the bar. Everyone was complaining. I would stay again.

Pros. Great position, comfy beds, quiet, bath and shower, pub downstairs, wonderfully friendly staff Cons. No parking, cold bath for the whole hotel as boiler problems (did sort it by the second morning), no lift, tiny room (210)

Excellent value for the money - room was better than I was expecting and had everything I needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Found it a bit noisy during the night, which woke me a few times - but I am a light sleeper.
