Me and my family came here for my dad's birthday meal. We have been before but not for a while and it was good to be back! The staff were excellent and very efficient and the food was amazing - something to suit everybody. We will definitely return!

It's so lovely here and the staff so kind and accommodating. The food is excellent. The journey to find is exciting in itself and the pub remains beautiful and warm. The staff are always there but not overpowering just welcoming and happy to help. The food is amazing albeit quite rich. There were 16 of us so we had a...

I'd read reasonable reviews of this place, but my heart sank when I saw the rather drab appearance of the outside of this pub, with so much apparent potential: I saw just one 'award' plaque on the outside... dated 1993 !! So 'good food' WAS served some 24 years ago. But...... ... whilst the sevice was enthusiastic, the food was...

Really friendly helpful staff. Best Sunday lunch that I have had for a long time. Between us we had all 3 roasts, rare sirloin, slow cooked silverside and slow cooked belly pork. All were delicious. The portions are huge with a wide choice of vegetables but you can specify childrens or smaller portions beforehand. Altogether a superb meal with attentive...

We had lunch here.It was very very quiet and lots of very young lost staff. No one offered us a drink on arrival or during our meal (we were the only people in the place!) The most senior bar member looked stressed and didn't even acknowledge us on arrival. Lunch was pleasant.good gravy. Goodly amount if a bit short on veg....

Met some friends here for luncheon today. From the moment we entered we felt welcome, a log fire roaring in the corner competed with the warmth of the staff. Food was lovely, nicely presented and generous portions, from the prawn starter, the 'welly belly' ( which was delicious) to the succulent steak and ale pie and the tender liver and...

This venue was recommended to us and I have to say it surpassed what we expected. Couldn't fault it. I didn't realise it was a hotel as we weren't there for this - I thought it was a village pub with great atmosphere and superb food and that met all those criteria and more - brilliant.

We visited last week and had a delicious meal in a cosy corner of this quiet pub. Despite it being below zero outside, it was warm and welcoming, even on a dark and very quiet January evening. I had the sausages and mash with the most amazing onion gravy... deliciously rich. My husband had the steak and ale pie which...

We stopped off at this pub having heard of its reputation. We were not disappointed! The lunch menu was varied enough to appeal to most tastes, including the obligatory vegetarian option. We both chose home made steak and ale pie. The pie was packed with tender beef, chunky and shredded. We both agreed that it was one of the best...
