Lunch was booked for 8 people two of whom were booked in for the night. Had a drink in the bar and bar staff were talking about another member of staff ( very unprofessional). Went through to dining room and we sat for some time before being given the opportunity to order drinks and then waited even longer for drinks to arrive at the table and to cut a long story shorter this pattern followed with starters and main meals. (Almost all were overcooked). The option to order dessert never came and our table remained uncleared until we started to clear it ourselves, even taking plates to the kitchen. A request had been made earlier to present the birthday girl with a decorated dessert but we weren't even offered dessert. It became clear that we were in the way when a coach turned up for afternoon tea, if they had explained we would have been happy to have dessert on the veranda. The bill was presented and the waiter clearly didn't understand us as he wasn't English so there was great confusion and the birthday girl complained to him however she apologized for being rude but he made a rude noise with his mouth as a way of refusing the apology and turned away abruptly causing a used straw to fly of his tray and directly on to my lap, he saw this but carried on as if he hadn't. Disgusted with this place and it's staff.

A big thank you to Leanne and the staff at The Mill Hotel in arranging our celebration with 23 people from all over the UK. The accommodation, food and service was excellent. Leanne dealt with various last minute changes and Scott looked after us in the bar. Leanne even arranged a screen so we could watch the Euro final, the only disappointment being England lost! We have no hesitation in recommending The Mill Hotel to anyone.

We wanted to meet up with friends, and got a good deal for a two-night stay. We got a good deal at a good price, and our expectations were set in context to what we paid. The hotel is undeniably old, and the rooms are at the smaller end of the scale, and the lack of hanging space absolutely true. The dinner meal was fine, and we opted for sharing platters, which turned out to be a good choice. Recommended. Breakfasts were good, and plenty of choice. We took the view that a genuinely old building will always be compromised internally, but Sudbury is worth exploring and the deal represented good value for money.

We recieved a 2 night stay as a christmas gift that was cancelled due to covid..no problem since we also recieved an email reassuring us that the booking would be honoured. So i rang and booked our stay for July adding an extra night. When we arrived the booking had not been secured despite emails discussing the issue but the hotel did accomade us We were literally squeezed into a tiny room so small it caused problems dressing. There was insufficient furniture and only hanging space for clothes. Breakfast was served in the bar and wss luke warm even thogh we had to book a slot but the evening was actually abominable. It took 2 hours to serve fish and chips which was tasteless and the tartre sauce contained a forign body (potato i think). On top of this no knives and forks were supplied and the wait for them and any condiments simply unacceptablr. For the advertisef price charged per night the service is definatley lacking

Terrible service. Terrible food. I thought I’ll take the in-laws out for lunch. Only 4 of us. They forget about one meal and two side orders. By the the time it turned up everyone else had finished. Chips weren’t cooked properly and the sandwich I had was was over priced. “The fish platter was apparent really nice last time” according to the in-laws. They were very disappointed this time, inconsistent and again over priced for what it was. When leaving no one asked how the meal was or thanked us. We won’t be going back.
