Formerly an ancient convent, is now a charming and completely renovated residence. Particolarly cared in the details it is situated in the small and cozy village of the Annunziata, in the town of Ortonovo (SP), fully immersed in the woods, close to the seaside and near turistic sites such as Cinque Terre, Versilia, the Apuan Mountains, and the Carrara marble quarries, as well as from historic sites such as Sarzana, Lerici, Lucca, Pietrasanta, Pisa.

Wonderfully reconstructed and decorated medieval monastery with luxurious rooms. Breakfast was great. On the terrace, in the morning sun, lovely rolls and great cappuccino. Very friendly personnel. The ladies apologised for the fact that, because of Covid-19, they had had to close the breakfast buffet. Nevertheless, the served breakfast was more than fine. Also, the lady at the reception gave us great advice on to where we should have dinner. Her choice was perfect: "Ometto" in Carrara, minutes away from the Monastero, serves genuine food for a fair [rice. Mom 'n dad in the kitchen, the daughters wait the tables. GREAT Italian food. Negatives? Nothing really. Great location, nice and cosy, ample parking space, lovely service, very clean. A group of younger guests occupying the apartment in the adjacent part of the building was a bit noisy in the middle of the night but that's hardly anything to blame the accommodation for.

We spent one night here en route to France. Quiet, with nice views from the rooms, but rather off the beaten track and no good restaurants within walking distance. Comfortable, good sized rooms with en suite bathroom. (we actually had a small suite comprising two double rooms, shared sitting area and shared bathroom; perfect for families). Breakfast was included and if weather is good this can be had on the terrace. On checking in was asked if there were any allergies to be catered for, and so they were able to provide gluten free items. Room was on the third floor which offered lovely views over the surrounding country side. Staff very welcoming and helpful. One night for two people 108euros. As mentioned no good restaurants within walking distance. There is one to which one can walk, but having looked at it, decided it was not a place to which we would go....loud pop music and disco lights! But believe the music is also and issue for local residents.

This homey hotel was once a refuge for monks. Today,it's a get away from your everyday life. Rooms are very comfortable, temperatures in the rooms are perfect, you won't need the air conditioning, wifi available, breakfast is not fancy but serves its purpose, and the view from this locanda is breath taking. You'll have to research restaurants to visit for lunch time and dinner, because la Lorca da only serves breakfast. Other then that,it's a little piece of heaven in the middle of the mountains.

We found the hotel online and gave it a go. Wonderful staff. Perfect room and close to good dining and not too far from some really nice beaches. Was a great surprise and I would suggest it to everyone.
