View Sydney hotel garners accolades for its spotless, well-furnished rooms that boast impressive views, although there have been occasional mentions of shower cleanliness concerns. Guests have called out the comfortable beds and premium linens, adding to the pleasant atmosphere, despite a few comments about the hallways needing a refresh. The hotel's prime location is a hit for its convenience to transport and city access, yet opinions on value are divided, with some reviewers pointing out high costs and unforeseen fees. While the service is generally celebrated for its friendliness and efficiency, a handful of patrons experienced service irregularities.

Stayed on a business trip for x4 nights. I had a harbour bridge facing view and the room had all the necessary fixtures and fittings. The room was cleaned to a high quality, sheets and towels were replenished when required and good quality. Bed was comfortable with an arm chair plus table & x2 chairs. Fridge, mini bar, hair dryer, ironing board/iron, kettle, glasses/mugs, tv, shower toiletries and face towels all provided. I had breakfast buffet daily which had a good selection and was rotated each day so that something new was available. My only observation in the restaurant were that the staff never offered you a hot beverage with breakfast, Every day I always had to walk down mid breakfast to ask and it wasn’t even self service. Plenty of car parking at $30 per day which I feel is quite expensive when you’re staying in the hotel as a guest. Housekeeping staff very friendly and attentive.

We stayed for the fireworks and our Superior Harbourview room on the 11th floor had an incredible view of the harbor and bridge. The local is next to the North Sydney metro station which gave us access to circular quay and other stops at cheap and easy transit cost. You can hear the metro on occasion but we didn’t find it to be an issue. The New Year’s Eve dinner and party were terrific.we looked at a lot of other options for New Years Eve and this was well worth the cost for a special occasion. I think the pricing is probably really good compared to the hotels around circular quay and the view is better

Great views of Sydney harbour bridge from room on 11th floor upgraded as part of deal to Superior Harbour room which was perfect for a couple. Included in the rate dinner and brekky for both nights and food and service was excellent no complaints at all. All staff were great and reception staff in particular were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, have stayed before which was also very good but will always book as higher level as possible so we cannot hear train noise.

Ok, so we stayed here twice recently. First time, our booking got messed up (booked online at discounted rate) as we were given the wrong room and charged extra. Lucky though, because the room was larger and on a high floor with an awesome view and they gave us free parking and a rollaway bed. Second time they got our booking right and the experience was totally different. Smaller room, lower floor. This hotel is above a train station so from this floor you hear trains rumble and screech as they pull in. The view is also partly obscured by an obnxious high rise. At night it's OK, as the trains stop. But once they did start again I found it really unsettling. You can't like in bed and enjoy the view at night as the windows are too high. So the pleasure of sitting at a table and enjoying the view in the day was kind of undercut by the train noise. Also this room was really tired looking and scruffy. The lampshades were crooked, the hair dryer didn't work and it didn't feel clean. it is near the cleaning cupboard and the cleaning trolley was parked outside our door all day and we had a great view inside the cleaning/storage room. The rest of the hotel is Itired looking and not very clean. In the lounge one night I went to sit at a table which was dirty, so obviously I didn't sit there. Next morning same table was still dirty. Worst of all was the scent they decided to pump through the air con to overcome the musty smell of the well-worn carpets. It was really strong and smelled like cheap men's cologne. I was holding my breath inside and couldn't wait to get out to the fresh air. The music in the lounge/dining area is also really loud. Not ambient music but pop/rock. The food in the restaurant was OK - sour fruit smoothie and very average coffee. Much better, cheaper options just outside the door. There is also no porter to help with bags when arriving late at night ... for some reason I expected this even though it's only a 4-star hotel. The staff were nice and very helpful, but overall the management this place seems amateurish. Parking is an extra charge. So: nice view, not nice stay.

A very big thank you for the fantastic time we had at your hotel to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary, and we would like to compliment your staff and the hotel for the way in which they made our stay so wonderful. We stayed for 2 nights – Sunday 12th and Monday 13 January.

Jonalyn and Catherine at reception were both exceptionally friendly to us on arrival and throughout our stay. When we first made enquiries at your hotel in November, we met Daniel who gave us a short tour of the hotel, showed us various rooms and discussed the tariff. We settled on a Bay Deluxe room 1201 - a great choice with extensive views over Sydney.
We were sorry to leave on Tuesday morning, but again the check-out was attended to very professionally by your assistant manager Rima. We experienced fantastic service from all your staff throughout our stay – everyone was so friendly and interested in our anniversary celebrations.

Overall, an extremely pleasant experience staying at your hotel. Congratulations Sydney View Hotel. We would have no hesitation recommending you to our friends and other family members.

Though you will not see the Opera house you are getting very good value for the money given what others take for a hotel room with a view of (some of) the fireworks during NYE. However, skip the NYE Dinner held in the hotel as it is on a (for the evening re-made) parking lot outside the hotel at ground floor. And I was also a little bit surprised that breakfast was not included in the NYE package given that the costs for it was 3% of the total price paid for the room.

We stayed for 2 nights. Buffet breakfast included and the food was fresh and great quality, definately no leathery eggs. Plenty of variety and seating in the dining room also has fabulous views over the harbour and Harbour Bridge.
The dinner menu did not suit my tastes and we crossed the road to the Billy Barry's Hotel where we got a great steak, chips salad - nice and plain like I prefer.
Our room was comfortable and the bed was extremely cosy.
We have stayed there previously when it was known as the Harbourview and it is as good, maybe even better now.
Parking was very costly at $40 per night. There is a parking station very close by and next time we will use this facility instead.
North Sydney train station is almost next door and there is a ferry available at both MacMahonds Point or Milson Point that goes to either Circular Key or Darling Harbour. The walk to either of these ferry points is downhill from Nth Sydney but a steep walk back so it is advisable to catch a train back to the View.
Greenwood Plaza is across the road from Nth Sydney station and has lots of nice eateries and other shops, eg: chemist, ect.
This is a great location to stay at while discovering and visiting Sydney with Lunar Park, Darling Harbour, Taronga Zoo, ect - all an easy access.
Planning our next trip shortly

Never stayed at this hotel before and chose it due to location for a near by appointment the next day and the package value and it's inclusions. Didn't know what to expect so expectations were low. On arrival was pleasantly suprised and staff were very helpful once in the room everything else Didn't matter!! Staying in a Harbour Veiw room on the 11th floor and on opening the door the veiw was absolutely amazing the harbour bridge filling the window only a stones throw away, aswel as the city right through to pyrmont bridge to the west and water views to the east. Complimentary bottle of Hunter Valley sparkling wine in the fridge on arrival a 3 course dinner which was superb, breakfast next morning and free hotel parking couldn't fault it at all for the price will be back. Cheers!

Arrived as final part of Australian tour. The hotel is a fair way from airport and with arriving through the day with all the traffic, the taxi cost just over $90 which we also had to pay for journey back so straight away a good chunk out of our budget used on just getting there and back. The check in was smooth and a special mention for Elodie on reception who was lovely and very helpful with her local knowledge. The rooms were good with huge tv and handy fridge and safe. We were on floor 9 and had fantastic harbour view which was even better at night with all the city lights as backdrop. We had a 3 course meal for $49 dollars each which was very nice (drinks extra). Would recommend the purchase of an opal card which is needed bearing in mind the location of the hotel north of the river. We topped up a couple of times but although we walk miles, didn’t fancy having to walk across the bridge every day and bac as it would be a good 40 minutes to get to the bridge and cross it to the city. Got off at Wynard station as it was really close to the marvellous Darling harbour. We managed to see a sat firework display which was spectacular. Also used the ferry a few times which can come out of your opal card balance. You get discounted fares on the card as opposed to getting paper tickets in advance ( don’t think you can pay the drivers) The only bad point to make really is the location of the hotel. Not so much for the costs of getting there and back, which need to be considered, but the noise from the trains. Even though we were on floor 9 the train noise was unbearable and found it hard to get any decent sleep during our 5 nights there and the fact that the rail line runs directly under the hotel, it’s obvious why. There are loads of trains every hour in both directions so the noise was really bad. We did enquire about a new room and was kindly shown a higher floor room but I thought noise levels not much better and would be extra $40 per night so stayed where we were. . This was my only gripe but quite a valid one as a stay in a hotel is generally for a bit of relaxing but the trains must start about 4am so no chance of a decent nights sleep unless hard of hearing. Don’t know if better window glazing would help.

I have booked a Skyline king room with a kitchen. Does it have a toaster please?
Answer from Aussie J
Sydney, Australia41 contributions22 helpful votes
Hi Lee Leo, I have stayed at this hotel at least 20 times over the last 25 years, however, have never had a room with a full kitchen. What I will say is that the staff are really accommodating, so I suggest you ask if they can supply a toaster, if the room doesn't have one. If it's just one or two of you, see if you can negotiate a free breakfast downstairs in the restaurant. Its pretty good value, so even if you have a family and see if they will let the kids eat free, could be an option? Good luck. It's a great place to stay to centre yourself to explore Sydney!
