Tucked slightly up on a slope, Ngimat Ayu homestay is the perfect place to stay in Bario. The place is spacious, a mini long-house, with gorgeous views from the verandah. The verandah is cosy, one can sit and relax in the cool weather and breathe in the fresh crisp air, with a cup of hot drink. The view of the...

Great cool break from your killing social media. No phone. .no divergent mind. With new management you love to be back to this place. We 3 families (10pax including kids). Much improved by now compared to my previous unforgettable visit few years back. Glimpse at Preyer mountain & return ride by boat in rever are always in our memories...thanks to...

I love the location of this home stay, the view from their verandah is superb, you can see the mountains and paddy field right across. Surrounding is calm, the place is clean with spacious room, clean washroom with wide kitchen for everyone to gather round the table for meal. I adore their "smokehouse" as i called it, where we can...

A trip to Bario gets you far,far away from the madding crowd in the concrete jungle. The twin otter flight from Miri is an experience in itself. If you don't want to fly you can always find someone to take you on a 12-hour road trip (if the bridges have not been washed away). We enjoyed our short stay at...

A wonderful retreat in the Kelabit Highlands. Scott greeted us at the airport and took us on a short scenic drive to Ngimat Ayu House. The charming house sat on a slope with a lovely view overlooking the padi fields. The rooms are clean and cosy but we found ourselves drawn to the airy verandah. Perfect place to sip a...

That's exactly how we felt when we stayed at this beautiful homestay. You can feel the love in every corner of the Ngimat Ayu home. We truly enjoyed the amazing hospitality of Scott and his adorable & beautiful mum (Tepu) and Nigel. The kitchen is always busy with wonderful aroma wafting by and the sunset is surreal from the elevated...

A very comfortable stay in Bario, good food in a homely kitchen cum dining with a warm fireplace. Kelabit food served was delicious, barking deer soup, yellow round terungs, the sweetest Bario pineapples, sultan fish, Bario rice, midin ....new and interesting tastes.

Excellent place to stay and recuperate. The balcony is so comfy that I was very reluctant to leave the house. Excellent hosts especially Aunty Martha. She's so motherly and cooks very well. Would be back one to have a long long stay.. By the way, the place is very clean. Strongly recommended.

Explored the area around Bario for 6 days which Apoi/Scott, the owner of Ngimat Ayu, arranged for us. Out itinerary included a 3 day trek from Sarawak - Kalimantan - Sarawak. Bario Village only started having 24hour electricity via solar panels from December 2015. One of the 2 bathrooms has a water heater. 4 bedrooms upstairs. The corner room with...

We got a warm welcome when our group of 6 arrived . after freshening up we were guided to the barbeque area for just cooked snacks of Wild boar (yum) . Our rooms were comfortable & bath room facilities although shared were adequate and clean . The house itself is a beautiful longhouse with a huge verandah that you can...
