As I have stayed here before and Reddish organized a Guide for the Bario Loop trekking, I was surprised when Reddish stopped answering my e-mails. I had booked to stay at Bariew Lodge for three days to attend the annual Pesta Nukenen. Arriving at the tiny airport we expected to get picked up, but had to get other transport because...

We found Reddish on the eBario site and basically went with him as he was the only guide who mailed us back. Although we found his rates for board and hiking reasonable, we were told by locals when we arrived that we were overcharged. He ended up being our guide for our jungle trek. He had a great deal of knowledge about the jungle and about what goes on...

We had read good reviews of the Bariew Lodge and Reddish, the owner. He picked us up in his 4WD and were surprised when the entrance was a large green tarpaulin covering a rusty iron gate. We were the only guests. The rooms were OK if spartan. We had full board - lunch was passable. The eating area was reached...
