Amazing! is the only word I an use to describe Lough Key House. It is an exceptional place to stay. From my initial email discussions with Frances to our sad departure we had an excellent experience. On arrival, Frances greeted us at the door and showed the drawing room, where we could sit, read, play the piano/guitars, watch television or...avail...

Title says it all. Worth driving to it just for the relaxing stay. Wished we had more time to stay with the Bean an Ti, Francis. A great place for a relaxing stay with a book. No need to bring your own book, shelves full. The breakfast is so tasty with homemade bread and jam. Will be back.

We were stunned by this beautiful place. My sister had booked it for us and not said much about it, wanting it to be a surprise, not even the name, so I hadn't read about it beforehand and was expecting a good, normal B and B for the price. Frances has done an amazing job inside and out. We loved...

This delightful B and B represents the epitome of irish hospitality. The country house atmosphere and surrounding farm allow the visitor to really feel they are getting away from it all. The breakfast options are absolutely delicious and the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. Not to mention the superb location - right next to lough key forest and close to...

Grounds are lovely, Fran is an incredible host, and the rooms are spacious and beautiful in this 200 year old mansion. The en suite bathroom has crisply fresh linens (as does the bed) and a claw foot bathtub as well. Staying here was one of the best parts of our 40th wedding anniversary trip and when we return to Ireland...

Stayed here for one night with family with an evening meal and we were blown away. Frances was an amazing host. The dinner was so accommodating and the breakfast was exactly what we needed the next morning. This venue is perfect for a reunion of friends, families, or an intimate party. It was just a comfort knowing that after your...

Frances owns and runs this amazing 5 Star B&B - We discovered this piece of heaven 8 years ago and have come back twice a year for the past 7 years. We still vote this as the Best Breakfast in Ireland! Try and get one of here exquisite rooms of which the red room is our favourite! The decor and...

On the whole a nice bed & breakfast. A few issues with smoke alarm beeping constantly until battery removed. In Courtyard Room there was no WiFi available. Decor was a little outdated. On plus side great location for Boyle & Lough Key Forest Park.

I absolutely love staying here as it ticks all the boxes, comfort, cleanliness, character, delicious breakfast, beautiful gardens, horses, peacock, dogs & of course Frances the wonderful host. This is our second time staying here & look forward to returning again in the near future.

We stayed 2 nights in the Pink room. Very charming and full of character. Ideally located and easy to find on the N4. Wonderful breakfast with home grown produce apart from when the hens are on strike! Frances and the girls were very welcoming and friendly. Wonderful garden with lots of friendly animals including peacock. Would stay again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lough Key House is a small but pleasing Georgian period house located next to the main entrance of the beautiful Lough Key Forest Park. It has 6 bedrooms in total: 3 rather grand & 3 more modest in the back of the house. All for the enjoyment of guests and also provides a sumptuous feast as breakfast: a generous buffet of fruits and cereals as well as fresh herb omelettes or eggs scrambled with smoked salmon. It is beautifully decorated and furnished and the welcome is genuinely as warm as the open fires. ... more   less
