The pub has a delightful, old-fashioned look and feel to it, with low lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. And they serve a first-class pint of Guinness! On our first night there, it was heaving with a 30th birthday party and the staff were working their proverbials off! But they retained their polite good humour and added to the enjoyment of...

Trip advisor let us down on this one; there are several excellent reviews but we most definitely would not recommend. The rates are extortionate for such shabby accommodation. The whole place needs upgrading.

We stayed one night at the mill bar on our way to the west, on arrival we were given the choice of two rooms. Both were very similar it was like stepping back in time to the 1970s. All the decor from the bed spreads to the carpets and bed room furniture screamed for updating. I must point out that...

Such a lovely couple that run it, friendly accommodating . Comfy rooms. Delightful breakfast . They went out of their way to help us. They not only gave us some contacts but phoned them for us . Nothing is to much trouble, it will be like staying with friends next year. Which by the way we have already booked up.

I stayed at The Mill for 2 nights in early December as I was over in Ireland visiting family and friends in various parts of the country. My stopover at The Mill was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from check-in to check-out. My room was large, welcoming, warm and extremely comfortable. I wanted for nothing room wise. Likewise the breakfast room...

nice but basic rooms with very nice and helpful staff. Missed our breakfast in the morning but were very kindly offered to be made breakfast even though the kitchen was already closed. Located a good distance from Athlone town but it suited our needs. Food in pub was also very good.

“We were in a front room and it was quiet but at a very quiet time (July, but wet weather) - never heard cars in car park or anyone in bar. Nevertheless I think a rear room might be better in season, away from car park and the bar itself.”
