Top notch stay at this relaxing, beautiful property and unique surroundings and views. Superb cuisine and service with a cozy friendly bar. Beautiful posh rooms. The hotel and its surrounding were incredibly charming, and idilic. Upon check in we were disappointed to see that there was no valet service, however it seems even in the highest end hotels in Ireland, this is not common. Check in was very simple anyway and someone was sent to help my husband retrieve our bags and deliver them to...

We arrived after a lot of driving over the Burren landscape, on a late coolish afternoon. We felt immediately cocooned in the warmth, subtle comfort and luxury of this small hotel. The staff were very gracious and welcoming. We enjoyed an aperitif in the lovely bar before dinner. From our table in the dining room we had a wonderful view...

We stayed here for 2 nights in May 2017 in a classic double/twin room. This hotel is hundreds of years old and has been added on during those years. The actual castle is across the street and is privately owned. The hotel is beautiful inside with peat burning fireplaces and actual lit candles all over the place in the evening....

What this is: 1. An absolutely outstanding 21 room country house hotel 2. Relaxing ambiance, eye for detail, luxurious finish and feel 3. Really friendly staff, who don't over-fuss 4. The best dinner we have had in Ireland, and we live here 5. A feeling of calmness, serenity, and luxurious comfort What this is not: 1. It deliberately doesn't have...

Let me start off by saying the view from the dining room is beautiful and the food we had at dinner was excellent. The bartender was great and all of the servers were very pleasant and provided wonderful service. With that being said, this is not a castle! It is a large house that is not even that nice and...

I was traveling to Ireland to get married and booked Gregans Castle Hotel for the night before my wedding. My fiancé and I were really excited to stay here. At $376 a night, the hotel was a splurge for us, but given it was for the night before our wedding, we decided to go for it. Unfortunately, about a month...

I had 16 guests in total staying for two nights in April for my 70th birthday party, this hotel is delightful in every way. The arrangements prior to the group arriving was done efficiently by Ken and nothing was too much trouble. Everything went smoothly even the last minute requests were met without any problems. The staff from every department...

We received an exceptionally warm welcome on arrival and were thrilled to receive an unexpected upgrade of our room as it was my birthday. The staff are without exception friendly and attentive. The hotel itself is full of character with interesting furniture and artwork. There is a really cosy bar, a comfortable and relaxing drawing room and the food was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With breathtaking views across Galway Bay and idyllically situated overlooking the unique Burren landscape, this is the ultimate luxury and gourmet hideaway. Simon and Frederieke together with their staff manage this oasis of comfort and offer genuine Irish hospitality, award winning innovative cooking and elegant bedrooms free from the intrusion of televisions. Antiques, an eclectic art collection, open fires, candles, jugs of flowers and Shelley the cat add to the indulgently relaxing atmosphere. The hotel while strictly not a "castle" in the usual sense of the word has been named "Gregans Castle" since it was built in 1750 as a more comfortable residence for the O'Loughlen and Martyn families from the nearby 16th century towerhouse. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way and the Burren Food Trail. The ideal location from which to enjoy the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Walking, Cycling, the Aran Islands, Horse Riding, Surfing, Sea Angling, Golf. Members of The Burren Ecotourism Network. Awards include: Georgina Campbell’s Hotel of the Year 2016, RAI Best Hotel Restaurant 2016, Gold Medal Awards Ireland’s Chef of the Year 2015, Supreme Winner & Best Country House 2014; Food & Wine Magazine Best Restaurant & Best Chef Munster 2014; AA 3 Rosettes for Culinary Excellence. ... more   less
