I live in Celbridge and have visited this hotel many times over the last 30 years. On May 2nd, my husband and I had dinner there. Our previous experiences were excellent. My first disappointment was our table. I should have asked for a better one so cannot really complain. The waitress offered to take my husband's coat but, to my... More

Not much I need to right about this hotel. Perfect location for us as the next stage of our event was at the K Club just down the road. Comfy sofas and open log fires in the lounge area. Very nice, especially with a pint (or 2) of Guinness to finish off the evening. The bedroom.....oh yes.....4-POSTER-BED and a very... More

Yes, it's beautiful a beautiful setting with antique furniture, but in need of redecoration. My biggest gripe was there was no tea/coffee making facility in the room! This would be standard for a 4 star hotel. The Irish coffee, priced at the higher end, was below average / watery. Breakfast was standard. Rooms were priced at 150Euros for a double,... More

There are plenty of reviews describing the lovely antique style furniture, so I will skip that detail. I will say however, that some of the furniture, although in a style befitting a manor house, is very worn and needs replacing. It may be an Irish thing, but most of us expect to have tea/coffee making facilities in our hotel room.... More

Nice place, equally nice staff and good food! Here for business and we were well looked after! Nice gardens when the weather is nice. Decor is antique and really lovely for a change. Four poster bed was a treat as well! Check in was quick and wifi is excellent! Remote area with not much to do close by but definitely... More

I wanted to bring my wife away to relax from work and kids, hadn't much time so somewhere that was near home (Dublin) but nice was the answer. Picked Barberstown Castle because it looked romantic, had nice gardens and friend (a chef) recommend the food. Positives: lovely setting, room great (wife loved the 4 poster bed) , staff very helpful... More

We arrived 7:15 pm to be told that the restaurant was closed and food was only available in the tea lobby and last orders were 8pm. This is ridiculously early for an hotel. We put our stuff in the room and went straight for dinner. There were no pre dinner drinks available, the menu and wine list were limited to... More

Stayed in this beautiful country house for two nights.Easy to find from the motorways. The hotel is set in a beautiful quaint village Straffan. The castle part of the hotel built in the 13th century has been preserved however as some TA reviewers have been disappointed not staying in a proper castle the hotel is magnificent. The bed rooms are... More

13th Century fortified manor house, well maintained. Huge rooms in the contemporary wing. The older keep / tower is the only original part of the manor. Breakfast is in this part of the house. Large rooms with poster beds, well decorated with modern toilets. Plenty of reading materials in the corridors. Wi-fi available in all areas - useful for planing... More
