Appearance lovely on the outside. Appreciate its an old/listed building. But terrible access for prams and wheelchairs. Getting to the entrance for checkin is difficult to access never mind once in the main building. Literally stairs everywhere, have to take 4 minute walk outside to get to room to avoid multiple set of stairs. OK if not raining/freezing. Only 1 lift in the main building and you will struggle to fit a compact pram into it. Never mind a bag and yourself. More steps when you finally reach courtyard room. Room was absolutely freezing during the night even though we had heating turned up full on arrival. Heard this complaint from 3 other rooms in our party that were staying. No facilities whatsoever in site. A "woodland walk" which really requires welly boots. Not accessibility friendly either. Path ends in middle of grass field. Might be ok in the middle of summer if you're lucky. Never received confirmation reservation email from them at time of booking. Another member of our party received call 2 days before the wedding to say he wasn't allowed to stay. Even though he was at the wedding. At check in was told wrong info in getting to rooms. Seems to be a bit of lack of communication amongst staff. Rooms however nicely decorated. Food at dinner was probably one of the nicest meals I've ever had. Breakfast was average. Says breakfast 7 to 10, but if you are down after 9.45 then they start to lift the breakfast buffet items. Overall, disappointing if you have poor mobility, have a young family/pram or have a disability. Contacted management regards my issues and received prompt reply, however wasn't exactly an apology on their behalf/effort to make it right. Over priced for what we got. Wouldn't stay again.

WOW! We stayed here just before Christmas and it was outstanding. Beautiful surroundings and the many ornaments and artworks are superb. Lovely walks around the grounds and the Irish Wolfhounds were a big hit with our sons. Staff are truly wonderful and a credit to place, every single staff member we encountered were wonderful and so welcoming. Can’t wait to return! Absolutely magical at Christmas 🎄

I was delighted to secure a last minute booking for one night in Cabra castle hotel just after Christmas. This stroke of luck was almost dashed on arrival when I realised that I had misread the dates and we had arrived 2 days early for our reservation. Emma, on reception, was nothing short of amazing. She assured me that they would be able to find us a room and only 5 minutes later we were given the keys for a cosy double bedroom in the courtyard. The staff continued to be the hotels best asset throughout our stay as we enjoyed a 5 course meal that evening with all foods served in a timely manner in a quiet and contented atmosphere. The wait staff in the Derby bar were polite, efficient and enthusiastic during drinks and lunch the following day. I have already made a booking for afternoon tea on a future date and would definitely recommend this venue for a short weekend break.

The hustle and bustle of Christmas can certainly be trying and there's nothing nicer than escaping after the excitement of it all for a day or two. I am sorry to hear that the dates were mixed up for you, but delighted we were able to accommodate when you arrived early. I have made emma aware of your praises for which she says to thank you. we are indeed very fortunate with the caliber of our staff. their friendliness only enhances the home from home feel that we endeavor to promote throughout. I hope you will pay us a return visit us in the future.

Visited here last Saturday for afternoon tea and had a fantastic time, would highly recommend. Was served by a lovely girl I believe her name was deana who attended to all my needs. The food was outstanding and the Christmas touches made it even better. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the near by area!

Afternoon tea at Cabra castle is certainly a beautiful treat and is only enhanced at Christmas time by the festive offerings and fairy lights surrounding the castle exterior. I am delighted you enjoyed the experience. I will ensure Deana is made aware of your praises and I do hope you will return in the not so distant future. Wishing you and your a very happy new year!
