On coach holiday and stayed 3 nights. The Castletown hotel is 5 miles from Thurso and is excellent. Really good food, comfortable, modern rooms and excellent staff. Would recommend - it is well worth it.

Delighted with this small hotel, where I stayed 4 nights as part of my 3 stop scotland stay. The hotel has a modern, cosy feel. The food is very good quality both at breakfast and dinner. It appeared very clean. The staff were very courteous and helpful throughout and worth pointing out quite a few were of a younger age whom I thought given the times showed a very high level of professionalism alongside their more mature colleagues. The wifi unfortunately didn't work in my room, so I needed to go to the communal areas to get on line. There is a limited bus service to Thurso and John o Groats where I was able to get the ferry to join a day bus tour of Orkney and again get the service bus back to Castletown about 30 mins away. The nights were noticeably quiet with no disturbances. Overall, I thought the hotel represented very good value for money. Castletown was a pleasant surprise too with wonderful beach and sandunes. I was lucky to see one of the most amazing late night sunsets from a beautiful spot, just 15 mins away. Beautiful memories in healing times.

A recently refurbished hotel with attentive staff. Good food and drinks in the bar and restaurant. The wifi is using an old encryption version so is difficult to connect to and keeps prompting warnings on a Windows 10 laptop. The car park has been tarmacked but needs white lines painting to allow more cars to park. No espresso on the 2nd and 3rd nights after dinner - a part from the Castletown hotel machine had been borrowed to fix a machine in another hotel??
