We stayed in a separate (fairly new) building with two rooms and a shared entry hallway. Loads of good features: our room was spacious and clean, the shower room was huge, the superking bed was comfortable, and breakfast was huge and delicious. The issue was the architecture: the "cathedral" style ceiling meant the roof is directly overhead, and the heavy...

Hi Other accommodations are accessed via the courtyard and so privacy has to be provided to rooms by hedges, plants and fencing within the courtyard. We've been complimented on many occassions on the layout of the courtyard and how privacy is achieved. I would put privacy above anything else except cleanliness and I think most of our guests would, too....

Extremely peaceful, quiet and set in beautiful surroundings. Wonderful, easy going and helpful owners. Very comfortable and spotless! I can't credit Lockgate enough! We're already trying to find time to return, we will without doubt stay there again! This is only the second review I've made, the first was The Montcalm in London. So I guess that says it all!...

We stayed in the Dairy for 2 nights recently. Welcome information was not available. Parking was tight. Heating was not on. All could have been easily fixed but was not. Bedrooms were good. Lighting in bathrooms needs improvement and bathroom products were a little sparse. Breakfast was cramped and noisy but hearty. Overall a nice place but a tad expensive...

Thank you for your review, Jonathan. The large brown coloured folder that was placed centrally on the throw to your bed and pointed out to you during room familiarisation (i.e. unmissable), contained lots of welcome information including eateries, taxi firms, contact numbers, WiFi and door codes. Also included in the folderand covering your separate point, are easily followed instructions on...

My husband and I spent one night at Lockgate Dairy with our two year old daughter. We had booked a standard b&b room but Martin and Helen very kindly upgraded us to one of their self catering cottages as it was free that night. The cottage we stayed in was beautiful with crisp white cotton bedding on extra comfy beds,...

What a fantastic stay, great hosts and fabulous accommodation in a beautiful setting. Best B&B around for sure and definitely value for money. The breakfeast (not a typo) is also top notch. Would certainly stay again if visiting Chichester or Goodwood.

Just a one night stay. Our room was nice enough - good bed, bedding, excellent shower - but cobwebs in bedroom and shower room weren't so great. Also towel rail was attached by a thread. I think it was rather early in the season and things had yet to get running. Service average - requests and issues dealt with reasonably...

Very well situated for visiting Chichester and the surrounding coast. The accommodation is well designed and comfortable. Breakfast was vey good. Surrounding pubs are particularly good. We are both vegetarians and dined well on both nights.

This is an excellent B&B, conveniently situated for the Chichester area, yet in the middle of the countryside. The rooms are spacious, airy, bright and very well equipped. The breakfast was sumptuous. I can find no fault in this place and would certainly stay there again.

The owners of Lockgate Dairy B&B clearly have taken great trouble to ensure that their guests are comfortable and pampered. From the Moulton Brown toiletries to the heated flooring to The White Company linens and bathrobes to the fresh flowers in the bedroom, nothing has been spared. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. Travel advice was spot on...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lockgate Dairy offers superb, 5-Star B&B accommodation. Once, a working dairy, Lockgate Dairy is set in rural, open farmland away from all busy roads. It is an ideal place for down time at the end of the business day, and a peaceful night's sleep. Road noise is banished, here. The extra little touches you'll notice and a hearty breakfast, the next morning, will see you right through. If you're in the zone more for pleasure rather than necessity, for a short break, then Chichester is famous for its cathedral, the Festival Theatre, the Novium Museum (based at a Roman bathhouse) and high quality restaurants of varied cuisines. With wide streets and plentiful parking, the town is one of the South's most pleasant shopping experiences, unusually, still dominated by independent shops and plentiful interesting architecture.Immediately surrounding Lockgate Dairy is flat countryside ideal for walking, cycling and exploring Chichester Harbour (sailing, boat tours) with numerous charming waters-edge hamlets and pathways, the expansive sandy beach of West Wittering and the nature reserve at Pagham.Drive just 15 minutes and you could be revving it up on the starting grid at Goodwood motor racing track or looking down Runway 33, about to launch into the skies from Goodwood airfield (formerly RAF Westhamptnet, a satellite WW2 airfield to RAF Tangmere where Hurricanes, Spitfires and Typhoons were once based.Drive a further 5 minutes you're into glorious South Downs scenery. There, Goodwood horse racing is a sure bet as is the amazing Weald and Downland Musuem. ... more   less
