We had a two night stay in the Rose and Crown in Hinton Charterhouse whilst visiting relatives and also the city of Bath nearby. We booked the venue via an internet room booking website and got what we considered a reasonable bed and breakfast room rate of £90 per night. The venue is easy to reach by road and has...

After a circular 11k walk from Hinton Charterhouse to Wellow, husband, 2 sons and I stopped here for a well earned beer and a spot of lunch. Fantastic pub lunch and friendly service. Burgers were huge and Bailey's cheesecake to die for. Will return

Was actually going to eat out in Bath Sunday lunchtime, but, due to the half marathon being on, it was chaotic so we did a quick u-turn and drove out to Hinton Charterhouse. Spotted the Rose and Crown and decided to stop off for some lunch. Met by a very friendly host and hostess who found us a table. We...

My companion and I called in here on spec. It was pretty busy as it was the last day of the shooting season and there was, amongst other customers, a large group of shooters in. Quite lively amongst their group but this just added to the ambience of the place. Lovely and warm, cosy, thrumming with conversation, couples, groups. Great...

Called in for lunch on New Years Eve when staying locally. Other pubs in the area were not serving lunch but the lady lady here greeted us in a very friendly manner and the menu was excellent. I had braised steak and my husband (a veggie!) fancied egg and chips (not on the lovely menu) and they gladly obliged! The...

Stayed here for a long weekend away with my partner, visiting Bath, Bristol and Cheddar Gorge. Lovely country inn surrounded by beautiful countryside. Didn't make breakfast as was served until 9am everyday, however did have one evening meal here which was fabulous. Only down points is the cost as it is a lot for what it is, but can get...

True country style fare. Game pie, Pheasant and cider, etc.Reasonably priced around £10.95 and of course Sunday carvery. Just the type of menu you would expect from a country pub. A warm welcome an open fire and a good selection of ales. Plenty of parking space's.

Although the room was clean and tidy, it was old fashioned and I thought that it was very expensive at £135 a night. Breakfast is only served until 9am, which is very early for a weekend stay. I would not recommend this place at the price at all. Maybe an £80 a night value I would say.

I stopped at short notice in a corner room on the first floor, it was clean, airy and nicely decorated. It had tea and coffee, bottled water and biscuits. It just had a shower, but that's what I prefer. There's Windows on both external walls so you can feel exposed at night. The evening meal was tasty and they had...

This pub is perfectly good. However, as a hotel / b&b I felt that the price was too high. I stayed for a friend's wedding and there is only 3 choices. Holmewood Park which is lovely but £160 - 200 / night. The Stag Inn and The Rose & Crown. Breakfast is only served until 9am and for me £135...
