We (5) stayed at the hotel and played golf at Sir James. The hotel offered low price package for one night stay, breakfast, and one round of golf. The room was average. The breakfast was good. We were allowed to check out late at 2.00 PM. The golf course was challenging but not well maintained. The caddies were good.
This is an Excellent getaway! If you want to play a few rounds of golf, or just enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, I Highly recommend booking a stay. Make sure and choose to include the Excellent Breakfast buffet, as well! You won’t be disappointed!
We (8) stayed one night at Sir James Resort in October. We played golf next morning at Sir James. The hotel is acceptable. The room is big. The breakfast with Thai rice soup and American food was good. The golf course is challenging with mountains and lakes. The hotel and golf rate was low due discount coupons from Thai Government.
Good Hotel to play golf or visiting, large room, good air, can see the mountain view from room. Nice staff, the swimming pool very clean and big, good food in restaurant. Thai food very delicious. We will come back again next times
Beautiful golf course and good facilities. The hotel was old with many steps and levels. Especially stairs to get to dinning room level. Hotel room was big and clean. Dinner was good. Buffet breakfast was plenty of choices. Staff was polite and friendly.
I kept trying to imagine the resort in its prime… a stately structure overlooking a beautiful valley with Khao Yai mountains in the distance. A large swimming pool busy with guests.. a lobby bar full of life in the evenings… fountains flowing every where you turned… a lush, well maintained course. But we all get older and more tired, I guess. And if ownership doesn’t invest, well, things just don’t last. The rooms seemed recently refreshed so that was good. But everywhere you looked there were signs of neglect and age. Walls in need of paint, flower pots laying on their side, fountains full of green and murky water, a closed sign on the lobby bar door. The Sir James golf course has some spectacular holes and is fun to play. In ok shape but could be so much better. What golf course do you know doesn’t have ball washers or a place to sit on every hole? Caddies were marginally helpful with distances and club selection. Sir James is a 3 star resort that used to be 5 star. A bit sad to see...…
Average quality hotel, but spacious rooms. Restaurant was average with very limited cold western food for breakfast. Was double charged for our rooms and STILL trying to get return payment one month later. Beware charges if you book outside the resort.
Perhaps when it opened it qualified for the 4 stars but now the hotels and club house are in bad nick and give a 2 star experience. Positives: staff are nice. Rooms are clean. Negatives: no amenities other than golf and the course is forgettable. Supposed to have a driving range and tennis court, but they were closed years ago (still advertised). Food is just dreadful. Evening menu offers a mix but stick to Thai as international food inedible (especially steak). Breakfast choice is American or continental. It’s 30-40 minutes drive to nearest attractions in Khao Yai. If you get a good deal then maybe a day or two would be relaxing as there nothing in close proximity so you won’t be disturbed. But don’t pay more than 1,500 or your being ripped off. Go to Kirimaya - superior in every way.…
We played on this course on our last day. The fairways are wide and well-maintained. Slightly challenging. Lots of Koreans played here. Caddies just average - not so helpful. Biggest disappointment with the club is the locker and shower facilities - lockers are old, lack of basic shower items like shampoo and body gel in the shower rooms. After our game, we checked with the Registration counter and realised they have a golf promotion rate of THB400 for 18-holes golf unto early May 2019.
Overall the resort was a great place to spend the nights for a big family of 7. The rooms were big and they had accommodated our request for adjoining rooms. Excellent! The breakfast buffet was delicious and sufficient. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. If I had to say something that can be improved, it would be the decor and state of property. Can be quite dated.
