Chose this hotel because of the history and castle belonging to the property... Lived up to our expectations and more! We have a great room (#13) with a view, were invited to join a small group for a tour of the castle - which was...More
We recently stayed the night at Ballinalacken during a self drive tour of Ireland. The room was very nice and it was probably the most comfortable bed of our trip. The breakfast was also great. We didn't try the restaurant, as it was closed the...More
We recently spent a night in Ballinalacken while touring the Burren. It has a spectacular location high on a hillside overlooking Galway Bay, the Aran Islands and nearby Doolin. A long winding driveway leads up to the hotel and the adjacent castle, which is not...More
Stayed just night while traveling around West of Ireland. Location is about 5k from Doolin, so slightly too far to walk if you plan to enjoy the music and craic at O' Connors. Both rooms were large and spacious with sea views with nicely appointed...More

There are taxis in town but not many, the pubs in town are great but the restaurant in the hotel is one of the best in the area. Pub in the hotel is VERY quiet and you'll find you're often the only one there, but it's very quaint and the service is good. No live music in the hotel pub.
The actual town has a few really good pubs, and it's the centre of music so you'll find it all good fun. Recommend O'Connor's and McGann's (locals' favourites).
