Just spent two nights in one of the cottages (two bedroom suite) and had a great stay. Each cottage has a screened-in porch, kitchen with utensils and cooking gear, and adjoins a short nature trail down to the St. John River. I took off one star for some very minor cleanliness quibbles (porch furniture needed to be wiped off, burners on stove needed cleaning) but this place exceeded our expectations for a Holiday Inn; we would definitely stay here again.

This property has a beautiful location. I was there in early spring and enjoyed taking walks down to the lake with all the grenery surrounding me. I was sitting on benches at the back of the hotel and just looking across the lake a lot. It is really nice.
The hotel itself is fine, but nothing special. I was checked in by a gardner, but he was a nice boy and I couldn't blame him for being a little clumsy. The room was very nice, the pool area is small but you have a nice view of the lake from hot tub. They even offered complimentary breakfast which was an additional advantage.

Granted it was the middle of January, but as far as value for money goes you can't beat it. The room was clean and the bed comfortable and yes the place is dated we were treated well and happy with our accommodation.

We had to call maintenance 3 times. The lower level rooms (rooms 100 -117) are absolutely terrible. The heaters do not work properly. We froze in our first room so they moved us to another which also had heater problems. We took the cover off heater and it said it was last checked in 2006?!?! (Safety concern) We could hear the people in the room above us peeing and the beds were so hard and uncomfortable. The rooms and hallway need a lot of cleaning and updating. The lower level is definitely run down and they should not charge people $109 to rent a room there. After all the hassle of being froze , moving rooms (with 3 little ones) to still have heater problems and having to listen to the upstairs people using the bathroom (clear as day) yuck! They still charged us $90. I feel like I could have taken the kids else where for that amount and had a much better time. I will never go back again and they lost my respect for charging me for terrible service. We took the kids to the pool area and the hot tub was scorching hot! (108 degrees) We had to find the maintenance guy AGAIN to turn it down. The maintenance guy is super nice tho!! He would be busy in a place like that!!

We ended up at his hotel after having an accident on the highway. This was the closest hotel.
We are so thankful that we ended up there!
The employees were so kind hearted! I mean, truly, genuinely kindhearted.
One of the employees even lent us her personal car so we could go into to town to rent a vehicle to get us (my husband and I and 3 children) home (we were 3 hours away from home and our van so undrivable).
The food was great and well priced, the rooms were clean, the hotel itself was so warm and welcoming and the staff...well, I can't say enough good things about the staff. There is even a pool!! Just truly fabulous!
We ended up at this hotel due to circumstances out of our control!
We loved the experience so much (which is nuts to say due to the circumstances) that we are planning a trip there again in the summer. The view in the winter is amazing as well.
We highly recommend this hotel!

Our family of four and friends of ours, a family of three spent the night at the Holiday Inn in Mactaquac, NB last night. We received less than satisfactory food fron the dining room (Fish and chips) which made two of us sick. We were practically ignored at the entrance to the dining room by the hostess...she didn't look up while speaking to us. Needless to say, we didn't exactly feel welcomed. Also, when booking reservations, I was told that kids under 6 eat free in the dining room, which was another confusing factor, since I wasn't told that I needed to get coupons from somewhere else in the hotel.
Also, when booking connected rooms for our two families, I was told I had them reserved indefinitely. When I called back weeks later to confirm my adjoining rooms, I was told that they could not be guaranteed to be adjoining until our arrival. This was another negative factor.
However, our rooms were quite clean and accomodated us well, inspite of the very little selection of television channels.
I was also surprised by the scum around the top of the swimming pool.
In the future, I believe we will find lodging somewhere else.

We stayed for one night travelling with friends and their children. The hotel is quite a distance from Fredericton (about 25 km) and is located on the St. John River. It is quite stunning from the outside and the lobby is also quite attractive. The hotel does need to deal with maintenance issues and probably needs to do some major renovations. One of the staff members mentioned that many of the sofa-beds are broken and we found in our room that the window no longer opened, the tub was looking worn, a door handle needed replacing, and a light bulb burnt out. Our friends found similar problems in their room. The pool area also was looking a little worn and in need of some repairs. The rooms are small and they have far too many smoking rooms. I am not sure how it has gotten so run down because I think it is a fairly new hotel. The restaurant service was not great although the food was okay. We would not stay here again until we hear that they have renovated.

We're a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 18+ children trying to escape Moncton for a little 2 day vacation. We arrived late Saturday evening to what looked like a beautiful building with a potentially great view and atmosphere. As soon as we walked in there was a flashback to 1980's right from the bed to the decor/furniture, literally nothing's been updated. There was a sad attempt to paint the walls funky hideous colours to hide water damaged walls and moldy windows, no shortage of bugs crawling out of the walls (we killed 15+), as well as mattresses which were 1980 cheap coil, needless to say we didn't sleep well and with one eye open. Although they did try to upgrade us into a bigger room with the same awful mattress' or 15% off our "already discounted stay", we opted out wanting to get a good night sleep in an updated hotel, would never recommend this place to anyone wanting a "resort" feel.

WOW is all I can say when I think of my experience at the Holiday Inn hotel and Resort Fredericton. This is not a traditional Holiday Inn this was an experience. Everything from the very friendly staff to the breathtaking view. All meals were exceptional, they had a great home cooked charm, lots of flavor and great service. The walking trails through the woods were relaxing and quaint. Sat on the dock in the early evening to watch the sunset.. Need I say more.

Great lobby, beautiful letaher couches, business center, and a real sence of place.

The rooms were traditional Holiday Inn rooms, good size, comfy beds and pillow options. How nice.

I would comeback over and over again and I will !! Great Job Holiday Inn Fredericton.

After reading through several of the recent reviews, I almost didn't write this because I didn't want to pile on and am generally a very understanding and positive reviewer. We stayed at the hotel in mid-August and were honestly quite excited to get there given how nice the place looked on their website and their ranking by the hotel association. Perhaps our anticipation led to our greater disappointment, but there was just no denying that the hotel, and the corridor where our room was (217) was just run down.

As we walked to our room it became immediately apparent that this wasn't going to be as nice a place as we had hoped. The walls were worn and trim was missing, the carpet in the corridor to our room was very badly stained along its entire length. Still, these are just superficial things and the comfort of the room was what really matters. Unfortunately this didn't get much better. The outlet where our AC plugged in was loose from the wall, the tissue dispenser in the bathroom was badly bent and had a sharp edge, the bed and mattress appeared old and the box spring was visibly stained (coffee I hope) and uninviting and the very thin blanket on the bed made it almost appear as if they forgot to finish making the bed.

In terms of the other facilities, my wife, who was excited about the pool/hot tub opted not to use them because of their condition (paint chipping, musky smell). The weather was very poor, so we couldn't take advantage of the grounds, but they seemed like they were well taken care of and would've been a nice bonus. Since we didn't feel very excited about hanging around in our room that night, we opted to head to Fredericton for dinner instead of trying the restaurant.

Finally, I will say that all the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful. It was unseasonably cold and rainy while we were there and I requested an extra blanket (the blankets on the bed are VERY thin) and they quickly got us a warmer one.

One last caveat: Part of me wonders to what extent the recent hurricane may have damaged the hotel, and if so, I would've been much more forgiving. However, if this was the case, customers should've been made aware of this on their website or at least when checking in. I don't know if it's the case, but I'm still trying to reconcile the resort that is showcased on their website and which received 3.5 stars and our personal experience.
