We hesitate to write this review, because we found Frangipani to be a charming hotel in an ideal location, with a friendly and helpful staff. But we reluctantly add two caveats: First, rooms in the old stone plantation building, where we stayed, have neither windows nor screens, and the wood jealousies do not suffice to keep out mosquitoes and other...

I expected more given the price and hype. I had booked a "garden" room and it did indeed overlook the garden, as well as the parking area. Woken at 6am by someone's backup warning. It was on the "ground floor" (the hotel was empty, so just think the receptionist could not be bothered to walk up steps to show me...

This is a super friendly place with a lovely outdoor bar anbd restaurant overlooking the sea. Food is not as good as the wonderful Gingerbread House restaurant next door (under same managment) but acceptable. They were closing down for two months the last day of my stay so things were a bit hectic and they were out of a lot...

We booked this hotel to stay during our Friendship Rose schooner sailing excursion. The staff here are extremely friendly and hospitable. We booked the original rooms and it came with two beds, desk, chair, mosquito nets, closet, and wash basin. Toilets and hot showers are shared at the end of the hall and were clean. My only complaint was that...

Stayed at the Frangi for 4 nights in one of the luxury rooms located up the hill, which have AC. The room had a large 4 poster bed with mosquito net, TV, coffee maker, fridge, cute bathroom and dressing area, and a fab balcony overlooking the bay. The room was clean and comfortable, if a little dark with the patio...

Perfect central location, just a few minutes' walk on the beach to the ferry dock, a few minutes in the other direction and you can jump in the water for great snorkeling along the coastline. Liked the simple stone and dark wood in the room, and appreciated the mosquito coils and nets – only downside was that with two twin...

Myself and my G/F have just coming back from a 3 week island hopping adventure in the Caribbean. On our travels we visited the fantastic Bequia and stayed at the equally fantastic Frangipani Hotel in Port Elizabeth, the capital. The location of the hotel is great only a 3-5 minute walk from the ferry dock (with hiking bags and a...

Before I say anything bad, this is probably the best hotel in bequia. There just is very little selection in Bequia. The Thursday Barbeque that they rave about is fair at best and will cost you almost $80 (us, not ec). The rooms have no air conditioning and are older rooms. They are OK but have not had renovations in...

I stayed at the Frangipani hotel in April 2009 for 4 nights. The hotel is located within walking distance from the ferry but you can take a taxi to the hotel which is about 3 minutes away and costs about $15EC. I was not able to see any pictures on the internet of the original rooms at the hotel but...

I stayed at the Frangipani in an original room and found everything extremely suitable - the central location means you can walk there easily from the ferry (which was appreciated since we arrived at 7pm and were ready to get settled quickly), and cute bars/restaurants all along the beach walkway. Everything was CLEAN - towels and sheets were fresh. Room...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As a home it began, and a home it still seems to the many Bequia lovers who return year after year to the Frangipani, the quintessential small hotel on a small island in the Caribbean. Built for his family by a Bequia sea captain almost a century ago, the shingle-sided, two-storey building has gracefully presided ever since over the nautical comings and goings of Admiralty Harbour. The property has been in the Mitchell family since 1898, first in boat building and now in hospitality. The hotel celebrated its 40th anniversary year in 2007. You can now savour the scene from the open-sided dining room, or the popular beach bar, or from the sundeck upstairs where you can still enjoy one of the original family rooms. The more luxurious garden rooms, which rise on a gentle slope behind, are hand-crafted of local stone and hardwoods, and each has a balcony facing westward over the yacht basin where the setting sun dips down behind the palms. Listed as one of the top 100 bars in the world, the Frangipani's waterfront open air bar is one of the Caribbean's famous watering holes. With an extensive cocktail menu, warm atmosphere and friendly bartenders, the "Frangi" bar maintains its reputation as the meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Try our famous Frangi Fever, Mango Potion or Passion Colada while seated in our love seats under the palms, watching the sun set on the horizon as the gentle breezes blow. Or find a spot at the beautiful purple- heart wooden bar with comfortable cushioned stools and you are likely to meet a fellow Bequia lover from across the planet. Whatever your fancy, you are sure to find good conversation, and a drink of choice at the Frangi; or the bartenders are happy to recommend one of their tropical specialties to while away the hours as you relax and unwind. Every Thursday night, the Frangi Barbecue and Jump Up with live music from the Elite Steel Orchestra maintains its unique attraction. Our superb buffet features a charcoal-grilled 8oz striploin steak or grilled fish, with a wide assortment of local dishes, seafood salads, freshly-baked bread, and fabulous desserts, including our famous Lime Pie, coffee or tea included. ... more   less
