My husband and I hiked Chirripo and decided to stay at Pelicano. This hotel has all the amenities you need with a great hot shower which was highly needed. The grounds are nice, rooms are ok but what really makes this hotel special is the trio effect (Father -Freddy plus his two sons David & Omar)... These fellas went above...

I hiked Chirripo and stayed at this hotel. In fact, the Hotel arranged the whole trip. The hotel has a swimming pool and other facilities which I did not use because it was poring with rain on my arrival. The hotel leans towards rustic in its construction and style. My room had 2 beds, one double and the other single....

Great hotel to serve as a base for hiking in the area. Lovely gardens, friendly, accomodating staff. Close to a few local restaurants, and several interesting community NGOS to visit. Meals were okay, no complaints.

Everything about this hotel is beautiful: the super clean wood cabin-style rooms, the restaurant, the gardens.  In addition, the staff was very friendly and was constantly providing useful information about the area.  The food at the restaurant was not always good: undercooked rice, very dry meat, apparently stale beans.  The part that annoyed me was that they kept changing their...

I had an amazing stay at El Pelicano. This hotel is located in wonderful gardens that have been perfectly landscaped and designed. The pools, the path in the forest, and a small but charming wood arts expo make this place a "must stay". My room was basic but very clean and comfortable. Food was excellent: I had my best "casado"...

Food was not what I expected, there is no relationship between price and quality. I had an orange chicken it was bad. I asked for dessert and they only had 1 option. At least the waitress has a good attitude and provides a good service. The coffee and dessert was really bad.

After leaving a different Hotel, for charzing us tripple than the price on the phone, we ended up at El Pelicano. The owner Omar let us in at 21.30! After a local woman called him for us. He was our hero, and we ended up in a great place. If there is anything like paradise, this is it for me!...

A pleasant, beautiful, but unfortunately not very well-known place in San Gerardo. I would recommend El Pelicano to anyone wanting to spend time in this town, and especially to those wanting a reliable, comfortable, and serviceable place to stay in before going to Cerro Chirripó. The hotel staff is absolutely amazing, and the food and hotel stay itself are delicious...

I stayed here for 2 nights: one to get the permit to enter the park to hike Chirripó and another before actually starting the hike. I loved every second of it! The food was delicious! And the staff were always nice and very helpful. They have sleeping bags and camping stoves that they rent out for a reasonable price. When...
