We stayed one night before our hike to Chirripó the next morning. We were welcomed with a relaxed atmosphere, great employees (shout out Robbie and Kimberly), and a unique place to stay. The whole hostel is a "community house" which is very different from other hostels I've stayed in. Casa Mariposa has hats/gloves/jackets/walking sticks for people to use for their...

I don't even know where to start off with all the good things happening there! First of all: the casa mariposa is a real beauty, they built the hostel into nature and it's just stunning. Then there's the staff: helping, friendly and there for every concern you may have. They even have a little store where you can buy eggs,...

This picturesque hostel perfectly defines what the word coziness means. People come here usually the night before they start their hike of the Cerro Chirripo but they end up staying at lease one additional night afterwards because the hostel has such a nice atmosphere. The owners and the manager are very friendly and helpful and you can really ask them...

I've traveled extensively in Costa Rica and even lived there for 10 mo's. I've had great experiences everywhere but must say, Casa Mariposa has been and still is one of my favorite hostels ever. The energy is great there. I've always met wonderful people and there is a sense of peace there. And fun , everyone is always happy to...

I had a great time at Casa Mariposa. If I ever come back to Costa Rica this would be the place I would stay. The hostel has an amazing view of a jungle gorge in the backyard. John and Jill are super friendly and will help you organize your hike up to Mt. Chirripo or other activities around town. Also...

It's obvious that the owners have put lots of love into this place. The common areas are found in a beautiful wood cabin with art, books, and games, all of which overlooks a little gorge with a garden. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics (spices!) plus some groceries that you can buy from them. Some of the rooms...

The place is really sweet, that s the best way to start the ascension of Chirripo or enjoy the cloudbrige parks which are both really close to the mariposa. Jill know perfectly the place and will give you all the informations and tips you need to climb I highly recommend !

I happened upon Casa Mariposa during a trip 4 years ago and ever since then thought it was the most relaxing place in the world. Of all the international travel I've done this is the only place I've come back to for a second time. I brought some friends and only told them a little bit beforehand. By the second...

Great location at the base of the Cerro Chirripo trail. Friendly owners and placement within the rainforest made this hostel the most memorable of our trip. It felt like we were sleeping among the wildlife, but within the comforts of home. Competitive rates, great service. Highly recommend.

Casa Mariposa has one of the best dorms I have ever stayed in. Comfortable mattresses, dry and spacious, in room sink, independent entry and a superb layout with some beds embedded in the rock walls Amazing! The entire place is great and has obviously been designed and built with love and attention. Hot water showers, outdoor gardens, great shared kitchen...
