We've just returned from a stay at this beautiful hotel. I booked a night and evening meal as a surprise for my husband's birthday. We stayed in a superior room and it really was superior - a decent sized bedroom and adjoining sitting room. The meal was delicious with very attentive service and breakfast this morning was served by a...

We spent 5 days here – a long Easter weekend. We booked in January and wished only to have B&B, but were told that the B&B rate was more expensive than the DBB. We arrived at 14.35 – check in time was 15.00, and waited for our room to be available. We had tea out on the terrace, looking over...

I enjoyed a night at Ghyll Manor this weekend. It's a beautiful hotel with lovely smiling, helpful staff. It's a very old building but much of the decor is modern in the outer rooms and bar area . We stayed in the Stable Block (I think it was called) in Speedwell room which was a mini suite and was excellent....

We've just stayed here for two nights with dinner on the first. It was absolutely superb. Excellent food, friendly staff and very warm and cosy. We stayed in Courtyard Cottage and it has the added advantage of a sitting area too, plus wet room for accommodate disabled people too. A very relaxing environment with pretty grounds to stroll in too.

Our room was in the modern part to the side of the main house. I think these rooms are nicer than the ones in the house which reminded me a bit of an old people's home and could do with updating. Our room was nice, it was very spacious and clean, and modern. The sheets and towels were good quality...

We booked to stay here overnight for a wedding nearby. The hotel was top of the recommended list so we assumed incorrectly that they would be welcoming to members of the wedding party. We arrived about 12.15pm on a Saturday hoping to check in. There was nobody to be seen at the reception. I tried calling the phone which I...

This was the first time that we have stayed at this hotel . Albeit very quaint and authentic it was very tired and needed some work. The staff very reasonably friendly but did not give you the impression that you were welcome. We were looking forward to sampling the evening menu and were really disappointed. The quality of the food...

Stayed 4 nights in this rather quaint hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable. Not that I spent a great deal of time in it. Had all the usual facilities, hair dryer, iron/board trouser press tea coffee TV. Decent shower. Very nice thick fluffy towels. Ate in the restaurant and evening meals (bar one) were very nice. One just...

We had visited here previously, before joining Trip advisor, and we were impressed by the Hotel, staff and grounds and wanted to return and this time we managed to get a last minute deal. Before you visit, you should take into consideration that this is a very old, but beautiful, property. So floorboards squeak, windows are not all double glazed...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your honest lovely review. You are correct, the beautiful character of our building does bring with it the squeaky floor boards and pipes may rattle. We believe this does add to the history of our 17th Century property. Our restaurant menu has been reviewed following feedback throughout our trial period and I do hope we...
