What a dream the village of Nunney is, don't miss the castle! Visited for 1 night before the Shepton Mallet flea market. Room was clean, modern and quiet. Bar and restaurant were cosy, food was nice but had to send my lasagne back as it wasn't heated through. This was rectified quickly. Breakfast was really good - thoroughly enjoyed. I take the other comments on the weird staff. The staff we met were efficient and courteous but interaction was minimal, not very warm I guess. A great stay for what we wanted, would return again.

We stayed here before going to longleat. 2 friends and 2 children after not seeing each other for years we had food and drinks in the restaurant and the food was delicious and the restaurant very cosy. the staff were amazing up until a certain point. it was odd as if something had happened behind the scenes maybe? I ordered what was going to be my last glass of wine at 9.30pm she said that's fine but you have half hr to drink it as we are closing at 10pm!? she did not seem impressed. then we had the bill brought over without asking for it as if to say time to leave 20 miss later? the family next to us wanted coffee but we're too scared to ask for it. the website states open till close so I'm assuming they wanted to clock off early. the rooms are comfortable beds amazing!but there were massive cobwebs everywhere in ever corner and ever windowsill. I think I even walked into one at one point. if your scared of spiders this place isn't for you. the other reviews are also true. there was a fly wherever we were. in the room in the restaurant and in the breakfast room. shame really as this has the potential to be amazing! and it in a beautiful location.

I regularly visit here for lunch, and on the last 2 visits have had their "smaller" portion of battered fish and chips. The batter is crisp, the fish moist and the size of the portions fill the plate, along with chips, mushy peas and an interesting tartar side dish (the "normal" portion must be vast!). And for just under £10 - amazing. The food is always superb, the staff charming and helpful and the whole ambience is of a very smart but cosy and welcoming pub.

Stayed for 1 night prior to visiting the nearby Longleat safari park. Greeted by a very friendly lady called Danni who provided some information about the hotel and also asked if we liked to book a dinner reservation. Room was very clean and tidy - full of character and a lovely view towards the castle. It had everything we needed in it and was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant that evening, which was delicious. Great selection of wines which again Danni had good knowledge of and gave recommendations. Breakfast the following morning was superb - selection of Tea/Coffee and toast/cereal where you can help yourself. We both ordered full English, which were fantastic. The portions were very generous and will certainly set you up for the day! We highly recommend a stay here, the surrounding area is charming and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. As mentioned we stayed before visiting Longleat Safari Park, which was a 15 mins drive away We will visit again for sure!
