We stayed here at quite short notice and was a bit concerned that some of the comments on trip advisor would be true. Far from it. After a long journey from Liverpool the good and accomodation was fab and the staff (Chris) the same. Cost place and welcoming on a winter's night.

We have been visiting the Dog House over Christmas for a number of years and one of the reasons why is that it never fails to disappoint. Jonathan and the team provide a welcoming a relaxed atmosphere in which to celebrate whichever way you choose. This year we took along a friend and the fact that he has spent the...

Stayed with friends and had a 2 night New Years Eve package. Room was good and staff worked incredibly hard. New Years Eve Party wasn't great due to quality of DJ/Disco and food selection was a little random. However putting that aside general food was solid pub food and the rooms were warm and comfortable. Great Location for sightseeing Oxford,...

A lovely clean hotel with good food and friendly staff. We stopped here 2 nights for the New Year celebration, something we have been doing for the last 17 years at hotels in various places around England but unfortunately this was our worst experience. The organisation of the evening buffet was a total shambles.( 3 hours from start to finish)...

The perfect pub for New Years Day! My Grandfather selected this pub for our family to enjoy a lovely lunch yesterday and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, with a huge selection of options, the mushrooms in breadcrumbs were a hit as well as the soup of the day. For main course they had all sorts of options...

Usually I'm really pleased with the Dog House but sadly last night it wasn't great. We chose from the Christmas menu and they had our choices for a week, sadly I think my turkey had been cooking since I ordered it!?! They had tried to cover up the extremely tough meat with the gravy, thankfully I have good teeth but...

Just stayed here for two nights , along with another couple, to use as a base to visit Bicester Shopping Village and Oxford Christmas Market. Stayed at a quite a few Old English inns and enjoyed them all , and this one was no different. Usual high standard of staff and food. We stayed in room 21 - the superior...

A warm welcome from a pleasant hotel. Lovely warm rooms with an excellent bed and superb linen. Room furniture tired and the odd cobweb. Bathroom toiletries were not overly generous but plenty of hot water and good sized bath. Meal in the pub restaurant was very good. I would particularly reccommend the indian part of the menu. Staff good .Enjoyable...
