Wow! What a fantastic feast we had. 13 courses of tasting menu ranging from single mouthful morsels to intricate main courses. The cooking on show here is fantastic. Some of the flavour combinations were staggering. I have nothing but praise. There was only one minor issue. The Langoustine course, needed a spoon with it (lol) as we couldn't get all...

Fabulous! At last! We have found a fantastic restaurant worthy of its Mitchelin Star. We had the lunch menu, which was outstanding. Each course packed in so much flavour, and it left you wanting more. I haven't stopped talking about the food since we got home! I love the relaxed atmosphere of the Black Swan and can't wait to go...

Went for lunch on Saturday for my birthday. The food was excellent, the venison melted in your mouth. Every course was amazing and the bread was something else, wish I could have bought some to take home. If I had to make a cricitism it would be no biscuit or chocolate with your coffee. The staff was very friendly too....

We stayed in the house opposite the The Black Swan where we were booked in for dinner. The room was beautifully and tastefully decorated with some lovely touches - the bottles of water and fresh milk in the fridge. Lovely bath and shower and the whole space warm and inviting. The view from the toilet was quite magnificent! A couple...

Not visited for 18 months, big mistake as during this time Chef Tommy has been upping his game. I would now consider after our recent meal the restaurant to be the best that North of England has to offer. The ingredience taste fresh from the field, staffing, wine and ambience was lovely. Only mistake is that if you don't fancy...

We stayed in a beautiful room in the cottage on the main street. Comfy bed, underfloor heating, fridge with bottled water, hairdryer, Flatscreen TV, Very large bathroom with a roll top bath and a walk in shower. Moulton Brown toiletries. Perfection.

We stayed in 'Wakendale' for two nights. It overlooks the kitchen garden of The Black Swan, so it was appropriate as we enjoyed two exceptional evening meals in the restaurant. The room is simple, tasteful, very comfortable with everything you would need. The people are welcoming and charming. We want to go back.

We visited the Black Swan on a one night package and restaurant review is separate. Coming from Helmsley where we had spent the afternoon looking around, we did have a little difficulty finding Oldstead as we didn’t take the turning down what looked a very narrow road. But this didn’t cause much delay and we were welcomed very warmly when...

We stayed here at the suggestion of my in laws who decided that we should extend our meal at The Back Swan and really make the most of the whole experience. We stayed in the Eylarmarre room which is located in a separate building a few meters up the road from the main restaurant. The room is located on the...

Fantastic food in an idillic setting. The whole team are clearly incredibly passionate about fresh food and it shows in the results. Highly recommend The Black Swan to people who love great food and delicious cocktails. Take time to have a walk around the kitchen garden, a perfect demonstration of the passion they put into the food.
