My husband and I went for a few days in between Christmas and new year, it is dated and in need of a huge refurb which I read is happening but I didn't see any evidence. But the rooms are clean, although a made wasn't near the room during our visit which we did think was odd. Everyone was friendly. We had breakfast every morning which was expellant, very tasty with loads to choose from. The view out the back was beautiful and I think in the summer it would be lovely. It is a very short 5 minute walk along the path to Keswick but I ended up very mucky so we walked round the long way which in total from hotel to the Square is 1 mile, so again not far. I would return to the hotel no problem.

After reading some reviews on here i was starting to dread our stay.. Stayed for 3 nights with hubby & dog & couldn't fault it at all. Ok its not the Hilton, ( hence the price )but our room on the 2nd floor was warm & very spacious. It’s obvious that refurbishment is in progress, so things will improve . Breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly & welcoming to us & our dog… We’ll definitely be returning. Thanks Derwentwater Hotel for a lovely break

The room we booked was dirty, very tired decor, mirror rusted around the edge they have a damp problem also, they leave other rooms own when unoccupied to vent them, the staff that were on had zero crack and looked demoralised, the only plus was the view from the hotel and being on the lake, if ya want luxury this ain’t for you, if ya want a budget night to get ya head down this is for you, ah yeah heating and hot water also off so cold shower it was, such a shame as could be amazing with a bit of money spent, not for me I’m afraid but that’s just my opinion.

I stayed along with my husband, daughter and son-in-law at the Derwentwater hotel. This was in November 2021. We had a very enjoyable stay. Bev and her team were great. Nothing was too much trouble. Including accommodating my husbands Oxygen requirements. The food was good the rooms clean and comfortable. The only downside was one selfish dog owner who seem to think that it was quite acceptable for one or both of her small dogs to sit on the furniture in the lovely conservatory which is attached to the hotel. Also to allow Fido ( not his real name ) to bark at 2 in the morning. This lady was the exception the other dog owners were fine. We have booked another trip in a months time. We are really looking forward to this. Yes I can recommend this hotel.

Stayed here previously about 2 years ago and was amazing.....a lot can happen in 2 years and boy did it!!! Avoid Room 104 at all costs COLD, DAMP, SMELLY & HEATING DOESN'T WORK IN THERE!!! Ceiling & Walls all water marked or black mould, curtains don't fit the window about 3" short so a gap I used towels to block the gap!! When I complained about the heating they sent someone to bleed the radiator but it did nothing to help the radiator was still just just warm but did bot heat the large room so slept in clothes and coat. Left a day early needless to say my family were not happy I was going home a day early but couldn't stand another night of the cold and smell Bathroom was ok maybe should have slept in the bath Attached are photos taken
