Just returned from a 3 night weekend stay. This is our second stay at this hotel and I know the whole place could do with a big refurbishment, but that said we really enjoyed our stay. Some of the bedrooms are better than others so if you are fussy, up grade. The conservatory is lovely to sit in on an evening,...

We stayed at this hotel for the weekend, lovely location, beautiful view from the gardens overlooking the lake. Staff and service could not have been better, meals also very nice with plenty of choice. Hotel it's self could do with a face lift but nothing that a good maintenance team could not fix. The room we stayed in was 203...

I do think some of the reviews on this hotel this year are harsh. Ok, there are a few niggles but not enough to spoil things..It was tired in places. The drinks were a little high and the Wifi reception, awful. The resturant staff were friendly but a little over zealous. Rushing hither and thither and the table we had...

Good Afternoon Marilyn M, Thank you very much for your time reviewing our hotel. I am happy that you point out that some reviews on here are rather harsh. WiFi reception currently is not amazing, however we are in the process of upgrading this. We should be live with our new WiFi coverage within the next couple of weeks. I...

Its an old but pretty building about 15 min walk from town. Parking on the premises and some rooms have a view of the lake in the distance. The rooms are a descent size with tea/coffee facilities. The wifi is crap. No wifi in the rooms and slow in the lounge/restaurant area. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant. Mistake!...

The hotel reception, restaurant, bar - upkeep and service was all fantastic. Our room was what let our stay down, it looked/felt like a mediocre diy job. A damp patch on the ceiling had been painted over, black mould around the bath - just strange when other parts of the room are in great condition, just looked unfinished. Breakfast was...

The hotel is in the a great location near Derwentwater and great place for walking. The grounds are the best place with great views over the lake and mountains. We were on the second floor and had lots of stairs to climb,as we were told were not allowed to use the lift with the dog! The room had space for the dog...

We upgraded to the highest level of room available and got plenty of space and storage, a comfortable quiet room with a view of the lake and a good nights sleep. Over the five days that we were there the evening meals ranged from ok to very good depending on your choice and the help yourself breakfast was very good...

Good Afternoon Graham N, Thank you very much for your time in reviewing our property. Your comments are valuable to us. Due to the flooding in December 2015, the boat jetty's got badly damaged, so therefore some of the points where the launch is due to stop, cannot be accessed anymore - hopefully this will be sorted soon. I stayed at this hotel with my daughter and chose it for its location and views. We were allocated Room 1, which is on the ground floor close to the reception area. We were horrified and disappointed when we saw the room. It resembled a grey cell. The window was frosted, as it faced the pavement, so there was no...

We stayed as a couple with our two dogs for 1-night at Easter. To start with a positive, the hotel is in a good location, in the village of Portinscale, on the banks of Derwent Water, and just a short walk to Keswick. Apart from that, I can't really find anything else positive to say. Parking was a nightmare, the...
