This old Yorkshire country inn oozed character and quality from the moment we arrived at Reception to when we left 48 hours later. We were part of a large wedding group and had booked all 11 rooms for two nights. We were in room 10 which was excellent with no faults that I noticed (very unusual, in my experience). The... More

Location when you find it, is great. In a steep valley, but got the stream running by the premises. Breakfast great, good service and a well laid out sitting room for residents. Good pub lay out downstairs and outdoors, but has a more select dinner upstairs in the grill room which we used on our last night, little slow on... More

We visited today for a meal before my relatives set back off to London. I would just like to say that the steak sandwiches, fish soup and sardines were excellent and that all the staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. The food and wine came with no fuss whatsoever and all at a reasonable price. Living locally we dine out... More

A wonderful boutique hotel with a super menu and genuine care and attention to detail, tucked away as it is we heard of it through friends but were surprised to find it full on the evening that we visited. Breakfast next morning was lovely too

This has to be the have it all place to stay, the location is surrounded by modern life, but hidden from view, you are no more than 15 minutes from the middle of town, but could be in the middle of the lakes or dales, parking is easy and not a mile away, the hotel has great character, from a... Absolutely fabulous. Gorgeous bedroom (Bower suite). Really friendly staff and excellent food. Service in the restraint was a tad slow but it was no big deal as you were not rushed for the table and the wait allowed your food to settle and make room for pudding. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. Not one bad thing to say

This was our 4th visit so obviously they must be doing something right. Stayed in room 3 this time, lovely free standing bath, underfloor heating in bathroom. Food was fantastic on Valentine's night, although this was not the reason for our stay, went to watch footie at The Shay! Dinner on Sunday evening in the bar, more like a rustic,... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night and had dinner. The room was superb, the decoration was very pleasant and the amenities were all very good. In the evening we ate in the bar area, but this really doesn't do it any justice as the bar area is actually more like a very pleasant rustic restaurant. The food... More

Had looked at the website beforehand and the photos didn't do it justice. We were upgraded to a superior room (3) on arrival and it was beautiful with lots of lovely touches and it's own little garden area. Lovely meal in the cosy bar area in front of a log fire was great especially as it was freezing outside with... More
