I've just returned from the yurts today, I highly recommend the stay. However, when I arrived on Wednesday 12th April I received dirty places and cups ect in the yurt and had to clean everything before use, also I found that a lot of other residents were not very polite, the communal kitchen was partly clean I found that on...

Recently stayed in a large yurt with my partner, daughter and another couple with their daughter. The yurt was better than expected and had everything required to make camping light work! The toilet and shower block was very clean and plenty of hot water was available. The location is perfect for a peaceful weekend away. The pub and pizza shop...

They don't allow dogs and the reason is they 'want to protect the safety of the youngsters'. Ludicrous. I guess it's their loss of custom at end of the day though. There are other places offering stays in yurts, just booked one that's in a good area and dog friendly in nearby area.

Stayed in the Shepherds Hut at westwood for a night away for our wedding anniversary. It was a last minute booking and we were very pleased with it. As the email confirmation stated it's very relaxed at westwood. We arrived parked up and spotted the Hut and unpacked. Donna who runs the yurst/hut side of things showed us the toilets/water/waste/...

We have just got back from four nights at the Yurts. It was amazing!!! I think it's important to stress here that we are not campers. Far from it. I don't know one end of a tent peg from another, and my partner knows even less. We hired one of the large Yurts as in our party were myself and...

Just returned early after weekend break. Horrified to find the damage done to my car, both sides that will cost thousands to fix. Thanks who ever thought it was funny I hope you die a horrible death. There was a hen party and a two family group so if it was either of your parties well done.

The staff were really helpful and friendly especially the gentleman who towed my car out of the drainage ditch in the car park (park on an angle when you visit). The amenities were clean and well stocked. The site was quiet with beautiful scenery all around. The yurt was clean and cosy once the wood burner got going. Check in...

We spent a wonderful weekend recently in the Shepherds Hut at Westwood Yurts. Despite a poor weather forecast, we had a fab time. The hut was clean, cosy and comfy with plenty of room for the two of us. The kitchen was well equipped and the lovely electric log burner kept us toasty warm at night. Toilets and showers spotlessly...

Right from the very start the welcome was warm and friendly. The yurts themselves are very clean and really well maintained. The wood burner in the centre gives out tremendous heat and takes no time at all to warm up the yurt. The facilities are excellent with the toilet block (including showers and washing up facilities) are clean and tidy....

The location is perfect. The yurts are the real deal imported from Mongolia. They are clean tidy and warm. The staff where very welcoming and helpful. The facilities were likewise. The access to Gibside estate was fantastic. We had access when it was still closed to the public, which was fantastic. We would really recommend this place and we will...
