Thank you for your comments and in the interests of transparency I feel I should say that we have never cancelled a fishing trip against a client's wishes and kept a deposit. The booking that I believe you are referring to here was for a fishing group that was booked to travel last year and decided not to travel due...

Overall we enjoyed our stay here. The rooms have great all round views, lovely to watch the cockatoos in the tree outside, and the wallabies going out onto the plains for the day. There is not much storage space in the bed area, but the bathroom is large with cupboards. There is a fan, but the pool area is the only...

Not the top luxury of the other "Luxury Lodges of Australia" we have stayed (Southern Ocean Lodge, Saffire, Capella Lodge, Lizard Island, Longtitude 131), the tent went for comfortable simplicity with the view taking centre stage. But even comfortable simplicity needs bedside tables, a plug for the basin (especially as there is no laundry service so I was unable to...

We had 2 wonderful nights at Bamurru Plains and we will be talking about it for a long time. It's situated on a working cattle/buffalo station and that is interesting in itself. What the lodge offers enhances that experience with excellent guides and great hospitality. Accommodation is very comfortable and really adds to the location. Due to the lack of...

My husband and I recently spent two memorable nights at the unique Bamurru Plains property. We arrived by car and were met by an affable enthusiastic guide who set the scene for the rest of our stay. The clever design of the lodge creates an immediate relaxed ambience and the safari tents provide a close to nature experience as wallabies...

We have just enjoyed a fantastic four days at Bamurru. It was a very special experience not only due to the location but also because of the wonderful service and camp facilities. My husband who is a birdwatcher was in heaven and the camp guides went beyond the call of duty in helping him spot those elusive 'new' birds. Meanwhile...

Bamurru plains is a very special holiday destination. We booked for 2 nights in the kingfisher suite but I wish that we could have stayed longer. My husband, a keen photographer was in heaven. The food was excellent and the open bar Vanderbilt you feel like you were at home. The use of old tin on the walls of the...

Come here to switch off, lie on the bed or the pool and watch the wild life go by. Don't expect massive amount of wildlife unless you are an avid bird watcher (I am not but did end up enjoying bird-watching) or happy to observe herds of non-native water-buffalos. Loads of wallabies and occasional hear of brumbies. The Balinese chef...

Had a fantastic 3 nights at Bumurru with our 2 young kids (10 and 7) staying in the Kingfisher Suite. The room was very comfortable and had ample space for us all. The meals were wonderful (cooked breakfast, lunch and then 3 courses for dinner). Definitely the calibre of a nice restaurant back in Sydney. We were in the ultimate...

As part of our 3 week taster of Australia we spent 2 nights at Bamurru Plains near Darwin. We flew into the local airstrip in a small 6 passenger plane which was a great adventure in its own right. Then just a 15 minute drive to the lodge. The staff were exceptional and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the midst of the savannah bush on the edge of the Mary River floodplains, Australia’s answer to the Okavango delta, Bamurru Plains’ is the setting for a wilderness experience like no other. With just nine safari suites, each blending seamlessly with the surrounding bush and with a focus on the key luxury comforts, a supremely comfortable bed, innovative Australian cuisine and premium wines (no TVs, minibars or telephones to distract from the wildlife outside), Bamurru deliberately tries not to be a typical luxury hotel room in the bush. The floodplains and savannah woodland offer one of Australia’s richest wildlife experiences: tens of thousands of Magpie Geese mingle with Whistling Kites, egrets, herons and buffalo on the floodplain, while Blue-winged Kookaburras, parrots, cockatoos and Agile Wallabies inhabit the fringing woodlands. Bamurru’s team of passionate field guides offer a variety of activities, including exhilarating airboat trips on the floodplains, cruises on the Sampan River to spot crocodiles, four-wheel drive safaris, scenic flights over the floodplains and coastline. We can also arrange tours to the rock art galleries of Arnhem Land or guided fishing trips. In the evening, sit back with a sundowner drink and canapés and enjoy the soft ‘Wild Bush Luxury’ touches that are the Bamurru trademark. There is also an open bar, a small swimming pool and nature reference library. Bamurru Plains, its facilities and 300 km² of country are exclusively for the use of its guests, so you can be assured of a quiet, privileged outback experience.
