This isn't the airbrushed rural idyll of the Tuscany middle-class set. This is an authentic 500 year old farmhouse lived in by a real family and a small menagerie of animals. Me and the children loved our stay here. Mike is a great and obliging guide and daytime companion; we did lots with him kayaking, canyoning, mountain biking, via ferrata...

Another lovely holiday with Mike & Lisa in this quaint, old, little farmhouse set in the Picos. Our two dogs were made to feel welcome again (both by Mike & Lisa, and by their dogs!!) and we spent a lovely three nights walking in the hills, and eating and drinking in Potes and Tama. We ate there for dinner only...

As per other reviews this is a Marmite place to stay. If you do not like animals(cats or dogs) then it's not the place for you. We had stayed at a number of locations across the picos and Spain/Portugal over the preceding 2 weeks and the largest issue was value for money. We unfortunately felt like we had joined a...

Mike has a great local knowledge and is a good guide, the family are all very nice but it is a little bit odd being thrown into the mix quite as much. Definitely not for luxury seekers, but good value if you don't mind basic and slightly wieird setting

Stayed here recently for a week. Mike and Lisa are an English couple who have lived in this area for years. The house is a 400-500 years old converted farm house, and I loved the atmosphere. Breakfast is a huge continental breakfast with lots to choose from including homemade jams and local honey. Keep in mind they have 2 dogs...

This is a place you will either be OK with or hate. Mine was the latter, really felt like you were gate-crashing a random persons house, who didn't really want you there. Cats in the dining room, rips in the bed linen and too far from town to walk. We found far better accommodation in town through TripAdvisor, who actually...

I had a great week skiing and exploring here: conditions and weather were variable and Mike's superb local knowledge really paid off in finding the right places to go. The area is wonderful and a haven for anyone who loves unspoiled nature and the mountains, whether for peace and solitude, the beautiful natural habitat, or outdoor activities of any sort,...

We are a hiking group who decided for our 2015 trip abroad to stay with Mike & Lisa in Casa Gustavo for a week’s guided walks. This proved to be a great decision, particularly as the weather for the week was not great and so Mike was able to easily decide each day a suitable walk based on the forecast....

We have just returned from a Winter holiday at Casa Gustava and it was absolutely spot-on! Having decided to have a walking holiday over the Christmas period, we left the UK on Boxing Day and spent a week with Mike and Lisa, hiking in the mountains and gorges by day (and even squeezing in a bit of snow-shoeing on the...

Very, very steep incline with a an off camber hairpin approach to the property. Welcomed by dogs, cat, cobwebs etc, not what we were expecting at all. Standard of accommodation much less than advertised or expected. 120 Euro deposit paid which we are investigating to have refunded.
