I just returned from a six day stay at Laqua on the shores of Lago d'Orta. I traveled there with my granddaughter: I wanted to give her a week in the beautiful setting of Northern Italy's lakes. I chose Laqua because I liked its location: Lago d"Orta is less crowded and, too, it is close to Milan. We flew into Malpensa Airport and in less than an hour we were at Laqua. Let me just say that the resort is stunning! The units are spacious, with comfortable and very well decorated living rooms and separate bedroom spaces. Our unit had a large balcony with plenty of room for several seating options. The setting? Absolutely stunning, right at the shore of the lake. There is an infinity swimming pool and this could not be more lovely. And of course, the food here is first rate. The chef did not disappoint! But all this is only the beginning. What makes this place uniquely special is the staff. The concierge team is wonderful: friendly, helpful, always ready to answer any question, provide any service. And then there is Tiziano, the person in charge of the aquatic activities. He is absolutely responsible for making our stay beyond perfect. He knows this region like the back of his hand and his suggestions were spot on. We loved the hike with him into the mountains! And his suggestion of a paddle to the secret beach and waterfall on the lake was fabulous. Our week would not have have been as top notch without his helpful and tireless guidance. Many many thanks to all of you and especially to you, Tiziano! We will long remember our magical week thanks to your efforts! Do I have any thoughts on how to do things even better? Well, I do think the owners need to clarify that a lake view room may offer a full lake view, or it may not. We thought we were renting a lake view. That was only partially the case. Honestly, the view to the pool and the twinkling lights of the dining terrace were very nice, but we were expecting to look out the window from our living room/bedroom and see the lake. You had to walk out on the balcony to get that view. Still, the small and quiet resort is beautiful. Really beautiful. We cannot recommend it highly enough!

This hotel takes itself very seriously and seeks to provide a high-class service. The rooms are large and spacious and come with a well-equipped kitchen area and a comfortable lounge area. We didn't get off to a great start when, having booked a "garden view room" they tried to fob us off with a view of the car park. After that, we settled in well and the facilities, particularly the pool area and the lake frontage deck/beach are very good. The restaurant terrace - where a good breakfast is also served - looks out over the lake and the view is beautiful. The restaurant aspires to fine dining and, on the whole, achieves that. However prices both for food and wine are, by Italian standards, very high as is anything from the bar - €15 for a small bottle of beer is indefensible. We preferred to eat in nearby S.Giulio - the restaurants had more atmosphere and - whilst the food may not have been "fine" it was more authentically Italian. Lacqua is undoubtedly a high class boutique hotel but just misses some of the high notes.

Elegant and chic but casual enough to be relaxed. Options to swim in the pool or the lake, a great spa and nearby lake walk make this a relaxed holiday experience. Rooms are spacious and well equipped and all the staff get a special mention for outstanding hospitality and service. The restaurant is stylish, open and airy with top-class food as would be expected. Dog friendly also means we give it an extra nod. Breakfast is very good but probably needs a little better organizing in peak season. Overall, we were sad to leave and this for us is a good indication of a perfect getaway. Definitely worth returning to.

Price to quality ratio was not achieved due to unprofessional restaurant and beach club staff. Front of house was the exception but to achieve a 5 star rating a lot of improvements must be achieved. The setting is pristine and yet the hotel did not inform us that construction was underway all day long directly across the street from the pool and only restaurant.

Secret jewel on Lago di Orta. Fantastic staff, beautiful hotel, exceptional foos (of course!) and what a lake experience. Congrats for this amazing hotel and experience. Service at breakfast can be improved ( a bit slow and disorganized) but overall simply amazing!

We had a lovely 5 night stay here. Very friendly staff at reception (Alberto, but also the friendly lady and the other two gentlemen we met at reception during our stay), really trying to go the extra mile when asked. Beautiful and very modern property, stunning lake views from our suite and balcony. Very comfortable beds, spacious and modern bathroom with rain shower. High quality breakfast choices and lovely setting for breakfast on terrace with fantastic lake views. Surprisingly the staff during the breakfast did not meet the same high standards as those at reception. The two ladies serving us each morning seemed to wish they were working elsewhere, no smile, no friendly welcome at all. They appeared stressed despite serving only one or two tables and didn't seem to speak much English. The need to fill out a list 'preferences' each night for breakfast seemed pointless and odd for this level of property, especially as it then still took ages for breakfast to turn up on our table - the last morning of our stay it took more than half an hour to get any food after we sat down for breakfast. After the initial round of coffees no one bothered to ask if we wanted a refill and we had to work hard each morning to grab the attention of the waitresses for refills. Whilst the breakfast service (not the food itself which was lovely) was disappointing, we had a lovely stay. We would just suggest to review the way breakfast is organised and provide more training to the breakfast staff.

This hotel is just a level above the rest It starts from the personal welcome by the gate and the view you get when you step through the gate to the attentiveness of the staff to the designed rooms to the food to the cleanliness to the quiet and calmness. Every little detail was thought of. A piece of heaven

A short stay in Laqua by the Lake was full of surprises, almost all lovely surprises .... our apartment was well appointed and even the knives in the kitchen were proper chef's knives - the owners have spared no expense in kitting out this gorgeous property with ultra comfortable beds, spacious suites and great outside spaces. The views change every hour or so as the light itself does and the reflections in the water move and swirl. The infinity pool is great (but swimming in the lake is also possible) and it is never crowded. We enjoyed out meals in the bistro restaurant, fine quality foods and wines, fresh young staff were friendly and helpful most of the time - this is a new hotel and there were occasional teething troubles, nothing serious. The cuisine is based on classic dishes by the owner-chef who is very famous in Italy, Cannvacciuolo. We loved it and would not hesitate to recommend it for a luxury holiday on one of Italy's gorgeous northern lakes.

I have visited Lake Orta many times over the years and thought I would take some friends and stay at the new Laqua by the sea. What can I say but perfect, rooms are modern and we had a beautiful view overlooking the lake. The restaurant is situated directly overlooking the infinity pool and lake, the dinner was to die for and service was impeccable, staff very attentive. After our meal we sat outside round the pit fire, photos do not do it justice. I can’t recommend enough and will definitely return

It is extremely rare to find a hotel where everything is just perfect. Laqua and its lovely staff accomplish this in this beautiful hotel. The rooms are spacious, everything is there, the restaurant is excellent. The balconies with lakeview are large and the view on the beautiful and quiet lake Orta is awesome.
