Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Spent 7 nights at the hotel. Arrived late due to a flight delay initial room over the restaurant and noisy with a limited view of the lake. Asked to change room and was given a much quieter room with a lovely lake view. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast has some variety but continental so no tomatoes, or mushrooms so heavily reliant on egg and cheese ( not sure how you would manage if you want a plant-based diet !). The hotel is remote and there are no taxis, we asked for a taxi to Orta and was quoted 50 euro return and it is only 3 miles away. You cannot walk due to busy roads so the only other this is by the scheduled boats which are only twice a day ( 0ne at 9.30 am other at 2.45 pm) and the return is 6 pm. Therefore would recommend hiring a car. Also, the hotel was busy with weddings on both weekends. On the whole, a lovely hotel and an excellent restaurant with amazing views over lake Orta.

This is a lovely hotel located about 10 minute drive from the historic centre of San Guilio. It is a well-run, family hotel with superb facilities.
We had a room with a balcony overhanging the lake & everything about it was superb. Some really nice touches too – for example, a ‘beach bag’ in the room kitted out with beach towels, free bottles of water on arrival & the fridge was left empty for you to put in your own wine, water etc. You can also order any extra drinks which are brought up to the room. There's a superb roof top bar & also a lunchtime restaurant area on a terrace overlooking the lake. The formal dining room (evening restaurant) offered excellent quality food & a more ‘a la carte’ experience.
There is a good sized pool too, although in August most people tended to swim in the lake itself from the ‘beach area’.
The historic centre of Orta San Giulio pretty busy with tourists so we enjoyed being 1 short drive away as it was lovely and quiet and relaxed
Would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay on Lake Orta.

The hotel ristorante Giardinetto was the perfect base for our Italian holiday.
Situated right on the lake front of lake orta, our double room was comfortable and the ensuite shower room clean and functional.
The service we received at the hotel was excellent, even duing the restrictions in place due to COVID-19. We ate breakfast at the hotel each day of our trip, lunch there 3 or 4 times and had dinner there once. The food was excellent, both on the a la carte menu and the lunchtime snack menu. The terrace, providing a gorgeous view over the lake, made our meal all the better.
The lounge terrace was a wonderful place to relax and soak up the sun, and cool off in the lake or the pool.
The hotel provided us with some excellent local guides, including hiking routes and hired us kayaks. They looked after us really well.

Lovely friendly hotel with large menu and very good food at reasonable prices. We ate lunch and dinner on the outside terrace with beautiful lake views. Our peaceful lakeside room had a balcony and was quieter than rooms facing the road, I imagine. I used the pool and swam from the jetty in the lake. It's very easy and cheap to get the public ferry from right outside the hotel to the lovely old town of Orta San Guilia and to the island in the lake. Overall, we had a lovely couple of days here and would definitely return.

Greal location with a great lake view. Breakfast was very simple for a 4 star hotel. The roof top was not available due to private party (wedding) … two consecutive days with two private parties… this was bad due to all the advertising of the roof top and we could not use it. The hotel should have separated locations for the hotel hosts and private party and never advertise roof top as a big attraction if it was closed for private parties during Saturday and Sunday.

The Giardinetto surpassed our expectations on every count. Firstly the location right on the lake and wonderful views across the lake our absolutely gorgeous. It is across the lake from sheer wooded mountains that plunge into the lake which look beautiful at every time of day. The hotel has a restaurant , a roof top bar and sun bathing deck that all take full advantage of the view. There is easy access for swimming in the lake and we also rented the hotels canoes and paddle boards which allowed peaceful exploration. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and accommodating which gives the feeling of being a special guest. The breakfast is delicious with a wide variety and taken on the balcony over the lake. The roof top bar is the epitome of cool- glass panels give a full view of the lake as the sun goes down - and you can enjoy an Aperitivo - and high class ‘snack’ menu. The main restaurant down stairs shared the view and high standard of food. A wonderful experience. We shall return!

This is a hidden gem of a hotel, family-run and very friendly, on beautiful Lake Orta. We felt very cared for from the moment we arrived. The on-site terraced restaurant at Giardinetto is wonderful and has a superb wine list; we were so happy with our first dinner that we booked a waterside table for every night of our stay. The lake is very clean; we enjoyed daily swims and paddle boards are available for guests. The hotel also has a lovely infinity pool overlooking the lake. Water taxis will take you to Orta San Giulio, a nearby medieval village with narrow, cobbled streets, and also to the picturesque island of San Giulio. If you can snag a table, book lunch at nearby Villa Crespi, a Moorish palace with a fabulous restaurant (3 Michelin stars). You won't find the glitz of Como here; you will find amazing natural beauty, great food and very warm people. Also: great value! Hotel Giardinetto is highly recommended.

Stayed for a couple of nights recently. Had a splendid room with a beautiful lake view and balcony. Breakfast was plentiful and preordered which meant that it was quickly delivered to your table. We dined in the hotel restaurant one evening, staff were helpful and friendly, the food was tasty with a modern slant. There are sun loungers by the lake and swimming pool.
Just a couple of observations... rather noisy aircon and the bar area was a bit small and dark. The bar seating is in the reception area which did seem a little overfilled with sofas.
I would stay again, thank you all.

A short stay in this hotel was a delight and a surprise! Friendly and caring service from staff and owners alike - I noticed clients who had obviously been coming for years enjoying warm conversations with people they obviously knew well and were fond of. The restaurant is excellent with great outside spaces for alfresco dining and the roof terrance was a delight. Spacious well serviced rooms with big terraces and Mediterranean atmosphere is perfect with the food served at both lunch and dinner. After a first visit here, I think it will become a frm favourite in the area.

We were guests for a week starting from last August 19th, 2 families (the first made up of 2 adults and a boy, the other family made up of 2 grandparents... .my in-laws...) immediately arrived at the hotel we were welcomed with enthusiasm and attention, the reception staff provided us with initial information on the structure and the various logistical parts. We were kindly accompanied to the room. Then opening the door and entering the large room (the triple deluxe lake view...the double std lake view) we were literally left speechless, amazed by the fantastic view of the lake, from the balcony it seems to be inside a cabin a cruise ship. The structure is equipped with a swimming pool and a solarium area, with direct access to the lake. Further services are given by the possibility on site of being able to rent single or two-seater canoes, (a pedalo is normally also available... but unfortunately during our period of stay it was stopped there and broken due to maintenance... too bad) they are also available for rental two front e-mtb (bosch engine). For all vehicles the rental prices were found to be very competitive. There is also a stop for public transport boats on the lake.
From a culinary point of view, the chef and all the staff (starting with Mrs. Monica) are always very kind, friendly and available to accommodate requests. The dishes are always of excellent quality. In the evening, a large terrace overlooking the lake is available on the top floor of the structure, with a bar and cocktail service. Excellent location to spend moments in company. In conclusion, I consider this structure worth trying. I highly recommend.

From Maplensa is little bit difficult to arrive on lake Orta.
May be for the next season will be a service from there to lake Maggiore anche then we can pick you up.But is not confimed
The best way is to plan a shuttle with us or with a local NCC (taxi service in more expensive) and normally cost about 90,00 per way (from 1 to 4 person)
From lake Orta to lake Maggiore there wil be a service during the day.(but not confirmed yet)
