We had a triple room, with a mezzanine and balcony. It was just big enough, but difficult once the sofa bed was opened. The sofa bed was comfortable. The mezzanine seemed a little flimsy, and the floor dipped in one part. The decor was odd and dated. The shower was, frankly, hilarious, with choices of light colour and different sprays. I giggled every time I was in there. The bathroom was functional.
For a triple room it might have been nice to have three seats on the balcony, but the outlook was nice.
We were there for a wedding and wanted to iron our outfits. There was no iron in the room so we asked at reception, and they... refused. We were not allowed to iron our own clothes because it was a safety issue. I mean, we have been ironing our clothes for decades and have not managed to cause a fire. But no, we had to give our clothes to the staff to iron. No only did we have to pay for this 'service', we had to follow up to get the clothes back in time. On this basis alone, I would not recommend this hotel.
Because the hotel takes in big tour groups it has set rules that impact all guests. Breakfast is too busy, and you cannot order eggs (for example) unless you do so for everyone at your table. But these are huge tables that you may need to share with strangers, so this does not make any sense. And good luck if you can get a barista coffee. They are good, but the queue is looong.
We ate at the restaurant one night. It is very pretty and the service was excellent. It is definitely expensive though.
This is a stunning part of Italy. The location makes the Approdo a nice option, and it is perhaps a little cheaper than some of its neighbours, but it would be worth weighing that up against the rules and the inconveniences of this hotel.
Do not go to this hotel.
Nice spot on the lakes edge
Hotel is spotlessly clean, although a 4 star hotel as a well travelled traveller I question that.
Rooms somewhat odd. Steps, step down to the balcony, bathroom can be big or small, my towel radiator couldn't be turned on. No instructions for anything, when I needed reception I had to walk down. Tea and coffee sachets are not replenished daily.
Dogs in rooms barking all hours, yes dogs!
Food was somewhat hit and miss.
Staff first class but reception staff can be sharp
The food at the Restaurant is good but the service is poor. We ordered some pre dinner drinks and after about 20 minutes my husband went to look for our drinks. They were ready at the bar and no waiter in sight.
The staff is also not clearing up tables once you have finished with one course. Our pre dinner drinks were still on the table when we had coffee!!!!
The hotel has ramps inside and wheelchair accessible toilets. But there are no parking spots for disabled customers.
All in all - for us no return.
This unsociable hotel is far from 4* worthy and was a great disappointment for us.
Past glory...
Breakfast served in a room right in front of the swimming pool was rich and with a lot of choice.
The room is simple but clean and spacious, I just suggest to book a lake side room if you want to enjoy the stunning view.
The village is small and the weather was bad, so without a car in this case you do not have a lot to do…
