From reading the website and being excited to stay here, I can report a somewhat lukewarm experience. The setting is awesome. You drive a narrow winding road to an isolated group of stone homes. Each is fitted with living room, kitchen, bedroom and bath. They are spacious. You get a hearty breakfast in the communal hall and can opt for...

We stayed here in December. Each evening when we returned from our daytrip we found the fire in the house was already burning. Breakfast was great. Aswell as the dinners we had in te resraurant. Even in winter the surroundings are beautiful! We spotted the dipper in the stream next to the house.

Despite being located near some villages and cities, this is a remote place. With almost no traffic signs, the only destination nearby that can helps to locate it is the “Barragem da Queimadela” (Queimadela Damn). Better try with GPS but after Pontido you have to insert Queimadela – otherwise you´ll never get here. Ancient roads, no signs... well that´s the...

My stay at Aldeia do Pontido was just perfect! You can relax, read a book while hearing the sound of the stream... I walked around and took hundreds of photos in the streams, to animals, to flowers... Every house has it's own kitchen so we prepared our meals there. The breakfast was very good...
