Once checked in to the room, it smells.
Not worth to stay here as hotel is run down. Toilet flushing system not working, towel look very old and the breakfast is cold. The location is far from town. Although the rate was rather cheap but the basic hotel necessities were not met. I believed that the hotel have a very low manpower as you can hardly seen any staff apart from the front office.

We stayed here for a night. Had booked 2 rooms and they provided us with connecting rooms. The room and toilets were reasonably clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. For the price, it is a well-maintained decent hotel for family.

Room was generally clean apart from some dog-eared wallpaper. Bathroom could be better kept as the basin outlet cover and door handle bracket were loose. Cigarette smell lurks along the corridor and lift lobby, which seeps into the room at times.

Hotel location was quite far away from the popular malls but the hotel provide complimentary shuttle service to & fro from Nagoya & Batam City Square Malls; advanced reservation required and fixed pick-up timing. Grab cost around S$3 to these malls and Batam Centre Ferry Terminal, while taxi is around S$7.

Not much amenities in the hotel surroundings but there are some F&B outlets and convenience stalls. There is an affordable massage shop (Maneya Massage) about 5 mins walk from the hotel which is clean and provides pretty good service. The noise from the Go Kart track opposite the hotel does not affect the stay.

Breakfast spread was adequate with choice of Fried Rice/Noodles/Bee Hoon, usual bread, cereal station, kuehs and egg station. Personal favourite was the egg station as it was made to order, which came hot. The other food was cold, but this seems like a norm in Batam.

Overall, liveable; not for fussy stayers. Can’t expect much for S$59, 2 nights stayed.

We couldn't get a hotel due to our last minutes decision to visit during CNY and have resorted to booking a tour package tour that ferry and rooms included. We didn't expect to be a budget hotel for the relatively high package price though.

We have 2 rooms, the bathroom door and shower head in one of the room was spoiled, had to call multiple times for a roll of toilet paper. On the second night, the hotel ran out TOWELS and we have to call several times until finally one could speak English told us that they have sent the towels for washing hence, the entire hotel has no more towel at the moment.

Can't complains though, since it is a budget hotel, it is the massage centre that put the hotel to shame. The signboard indicated 180 000 IDR per hour but the woman at the counter demanded 200,000 which we were okay for it. It was 9pm and instead of 1 hour of massage, the masseuse left me waiting inside the stinky room for exactly 20 minutes while she eats outside, then 5 minutes into rubbing oil onto my leg, she went out to attend to walk-in customers, came back again and completely forgotten about that leg and rub oil to the other. There wasn't any massage, just putting to the body, chatting to the masseuse attending to my husband, going out to attend to walk-in and said it is done and walked off at 9.40pm! I didn't expect much for that price but I can't help but feel cheated paying for an hour of massage only to be given an attitude and at most 20minutes of rubbing don't know what kind of oil onto my body. Yuck!

I came for early check in before 2pm and frontliners said not possible so i have to wait until precisely 2pm. This is totally fine.

Then i saw few people come through walk-in around 1pm, they allowed them to check in and enter the room.

I asked them why so, and frontliners told me if you are walk-in guest, you are allowed to enter the room immediately. Unless you book online, you must exactly wait until 2pm.

Super creepy and dirty, haunted establishment, they dont change your linen, and roaches are found in your room. Yuck!
Arrogant front office and the reservation manager called as victor is not up to par.

The staffs are definitely not trained properly and the linens were not changed at all.

My hands are reddish and I bet that I was bitten badly by the mites.

The room is simple and clean. Nothing to pick on based on the price I paid. The breakfast spread was simple but nice. And there is a convenient stall before the hotel. The only thing I don’t really like is the toilet has an unpleasant smell.

The trip to Batam(ferry/stay/massage package) was okay on the whole, but the Golden Bay Hotel was very bad. The room was dirty and when we got back from dinner, there were many cockroaches roaming around. It was a horrendous experience. We hardly slept and had the lights on all night hoping it would keep the cockroaches away. One of the couples we met stayed at the Horizon and they said it was very nice. I wish we had been given another option for the accommodation. The dinner at the Golden View Hotel was just okay but the breakfast at the Golden Bay was abysmal!! There was very little food and the way it was displayed was unappetising. The guide Linda was very good and helpful. The hotel must do something about their cleanliness and food if they want to stay in operation.

The Golden Bay Hotel is the sibling hotel of Golden View Hotel in Golden City. It's opposite the go kart circuit and near the 'brands' shopping area, Golden Prawn 555 and Golden Prawn 888 seafood restaurants. It's a basic hotel with 2 cafes on the ground floor. There is a Geylang food court just outside the hotel. If you like some peace and quiet, ask for rooms away from the Geylang food court. Else it will be bustling with live singing from the food court till midnight. Relatively clean rooms with small bathrooms.

Both the Golden View Hotel and Golden Bay Hotel on Batam are owned by the same boss. And both hotels are a short distance from each other.

The Golden Bay Hotel is the cheaper(?), less posh version of the Golden View Hotel. Golden View has nice curving staircases flanking the lobby as you step inside the hotel, and a row of Egyptian murals decorating the walls. Golden Bay's lobby and lounge, on the other hand, are small and modest by comparison.

The rooms are clean, the service is attentive and the wifi is speedy (do take note that Reddit is blocked by Indonesian ISPs and is thus inaccessible). However, the window view isn't particularly interesting, because the area ('Golden City') is fairly desolate compared to the more bustling areas such as Nagoya and Batam Centre.

There's a free taxi service provided by the hotel to take guests to Nagoya, but if shopping and massages are your priority, you'd be better finding a hotel in Nagoya.

The Golden Bay Hotel is located right in front of the go-kart circuit, and not too far from the Golden Prawn seafood restaurants (Golden Prawn 555 and Golden Prawn 933, the restaurants are right at the doorstep of the Golden View Hotel). Golden Bay Hotel is also not far from some clothes and souvenir shops, notably (Ralph Lauren) Polo.

Unless you really crave Golden Prawn seafood, go-karting and Polo apparel (and a few other shops nearby), I would recommend a hotel in Nagoya or Batam Centre instead. Of course, if you prefer diving or golf you already know where you're going to stay...

Misc notes:

Level 1 = ground floor, lobby and reception counter. Small bar and cafeteria on either side.

Level 2-5 = rooms for guests.

Level 6 = highest floor, only a large conference room.

Hotel shampoo has a nice minty aroma.
.
Lots of construction sites in the Golden City area. Perhaps in future it won't be as desolate as it is now.
