We have been here many times for an early evening meal, which for the most part, is fairly good for what you are charged. The service is good and the staff very pleasant and the food is usually hot and well presented. We have also attended an engagement function upstairs and a funeral meal. Both of these were well done,...

When checking in we requested 2 key cards - told that it was £1.50 for extra keycard, which we would get back on returning extra keycard!! I have never been asked for cash for an extra key for the room, as 2 of us in the room, and not always together when we go out - seemed a little mean....

Overall clean, comfortable. Good rooms and bar restaurant facilities although limited in terms of closing hours. Arrive just after 21:00 and food is not possible, and bar shuts early enough. Last orders at 22:30 and shut at 23:00. Overall happy enough, only complaint would be that when checking out I informed the lady that due to eating a large meal...

We have stayed in this hotel twice, once for a wedding being held in the hotel two years ago and again when visiting for a friends birthday party in the area. It is an extremely friendly hotel, all staff make you feel very welcome. On both visits the rooms have been exceptional, very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. We had...

The Wedding was excellent beautiful function suite, the staff were friendly and attentive and our room was on the same floor which was great as I have a broken leg and was on crouches, there was also a lift from reception which stopped...

My wife and I celebrated our Golden Wedding in the Torrance Hotel last Friday 28th October and we cannot praise the management and staff for the excellent way in which they treated us, from the day we booked, until our big night. The function room was decorated to the highest order and Colin the DJ, on the night, played a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcoming traditional village hotel in walking distance to Scotland's largest undercover shopping and leisure centre in East Kilbride. East Kilbride has many local attractions including Village Theatre, Golf Courses, Ten Pin Bowling, Ice Skating, Odeon Cinema and is only 7 miles from Glasgow city centre. Built in 1773 by General Stuart of Torrance as a cotton-spinning mill and workers' houses the building in Torrance Square provided a focus for town life. In its many incarnations the popular Torrance Hotel has also housed a school, a shop and a Coaching Inn, but it has always been at the heart of East Kilbride. The building has retained all its original character and charm. We have 20 comfortable bedrooms including the newly refurbished Honeymoon Suite for 2007. Enjoy a meal in our warm and friendly restaurant or lounge bar which caters for a wide range of food from traditional meals to bar snacks. We are a 5 minute walk from the local train station which will take you straight into Glasgow's Central Station which runs every half hour. If more information is required then do not hesitate to ask our friendly receptionist staff. We would like to advise guests that there will be no bar or restaurant facilities for the next 4 months. We are undergoing a major refurbishment to improve the services to the guests in the future. ... more   less
