Solea Mactan Resort is often celebrated for its diverse pools, dining choices, and beach access, though some guests feel additional costs and limited pool hours slightly mar the experience. The staff's friendliness and professionalism are commonly applauded, yet occasional slow service has been noted. The resort's cleanliness receives consistent accolades, with special mention of the spotless rooms and facilities. Opinions on value and location are mixed; some visitors mention unexpected expenses and a sense of isolation. Room experiences vary, but comfort and cleanliness are usually commended, contributing to the resort's overall welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere.

Since it was a spur of the moment trip, we reserved the trip over the phone. The operator was very nice and very accommodating. However, upon check in, I was the only one in line and it took a considerably long time. They did not ask for a deposit (so we were unable to charge room services / table dining to our room). They did not offer to help bring our (few) bags up to the room, so we carried it ourselves. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. We availed of the dinner buffet and after we paid, decided to get dessert (we saw another group order bowls of ice cream) in the outside shop. When we ordered the ice cream, they said it wasn't available, then when we pointed out that we just saw another group order bowls of ice cream, all of a sudden, the ice cream was available. Very poor service in the dessert/drinks outlet outside the restaurant. Upon check out, it again took a very long time to check out as there was no dedicated check in and check out lane. One guest was not wearing a mask while checking in and was not being reminded to wear a mask.

We're looking for a child friendly pool and we found Solea. The family just stayed for a night. The room (city view) needs improvement especially in cleaning (water bottles from previous guest found). Service we're good especially the staff in Earth restaurant to Mr. Roland, who serve us courteously with the foods.
Our kids we're very enjoy at the kids pool.
Overall, we had a great time in Solea.

We requested for early check in but was not granted because the hotel is fully booked and its takes time to fix the room, totally understandable since our expectation was set when we called in. The thing that bothers me is the front desk male hotel clerk named Ralf which never smiled and shows no signs to extend a helping hand. He did not provide us options but instead just left us there to wait. We travelled an hour and a half just to experience this kind of customer service which is totally unacceptable considering that he is the front line of the hotel and could make or break good customer service experience. He failed big time! Good thing is that Anna and King was there to make up for his mistakes. Good job and well done Anna and King for turning things around for us. Lets go to the room experience. No one assisted us with our luggage which ok because we are capable of bringing our own luggage to the room, offering assistance could have made it a little bit better. We left our luggage in the room and enjoyed the amenities of the resort. When we came back and was about to rest when we noticed that the bedsheet was sandy and the pillow case is dirty. Called housekeeping and had to wait 30 mins
Which is another blow considering that we are really tired and sleepy at that time. somebody finally came and fixed the bed but did not even apologize for the bad experience. Not a good way to treat a tired and sleepy guest. But its not all that bad. Earth all day dinning was amazing! Great staff and good food. Thats the way to treat a hotel guest. Almost all of them there was astounding. Special mention to Yaun, alan, and ageline ( i hope i got your names spelled right :-) ) for being so nice and really showed that you are an asset to the hotel that you represent. In my opinion even if you have a 5 start hotel if you provide poor customer service, your rating will not count. The way you provide service can make or break your business.

we’re currently spending a night here in Solea. Issues encountered so far:

1. Clogged bathroom. We had to call the frontdesk 4x before our request to get transferred got accommodated. We have a 2 year old toddler with us and we couldn’t stress enough how we need to immediately get another room because we just got back swimming from the pool and our toddler needs to change and wash right away for her not to catch a cold! But then we had to argue to one of the front desks first before we were given another room. Spent an hour just for this issue to get resolved. 🤷🏼‍♀️

2. Downgraded room. We stayed at room 619 then got transferred to room 533. We booked a room with bathtub and citylights view but then got downgraded to a room with no tub and other guest’s room balcony as a view. 😪😪

3. The shower head is broken! You have to continuously hold the switching knob for the rain shower to work!

4. TV. the tv in room 533 doesn’t have any signal when we arrive. So we had to call their housekeeping again to get it fixed. We had to wait another 30 minutes to someone to come over. When they finally got it working, TV has a line on the screen. 🤦🏼‍♀️

5. In the room where we got transferred. There’s even no rack for us to hang our wet clothes!

We haven’t finished our stay yet. So many problems with the room alone. We booked a room here to relax! Not to stress out ourselves with your mediocre room and service!

I will update this post once we checked out. We’ll see how this story unfolds.

One night at this resort was more than enough. In the evening when we tried the ala carte we had to wait one and a half hour for our food even if the restaurant was empty. When we finally got our food the salad was drained in vinegar so it looked like a soup and the chicken was raw!! We also tried the banana fritters with ice cream but of course it came without ice cream. Unfortunately it was by far the worst food we were served in the Philippines.

We were also promised a taxi for 400 PHP the next morning. When we checked out the receptionists said that they were unable to call the taxi company and told us to pay them (the hotel) 1200 PHP instead. We were in quite a hurry and had to pay 1000 PHP to the hotel in the end which was way too much and disappointing considering what we were promised the day before. Be aware of this!

The beautiful pool area which looks like a playing ground is used for advertisement but don’t get fooled because it will cost you 800 PHP to enter this swimming pool.

The positive things were the friendly staff but just friendliness is not always enough. Also the swimming pools are clean and you can easily spend a day using the facilities. It’s also worth noticing that table tennis, billiards etc comes at an extra cost (quite expensive). The gym was under construction which was disappointing.

First thing we noticed was the door to the comfort rooms in the hotel are full glass door with no locks! And the side wall of the shower is clear glass as well; though there's roller shutter blinds on the bedroom side, one can still easily peek through while someone is taking a shower. It may appeal to intimate couples, but to families with kids & even relatives, it brings up major privacy issues! (Who the hell designs comfort room doors with full frameless glass? It's also a safety issue as well.)
It's noticeable that there used to be a lock in the glass, but through time they probably have been broken/detached and were never replaced. The management should replace the comfort room doors with a solid-framed door with a durable lockset (it can still have glazing). This is also the same case in the comfort rooms by the pool - same frameless glass with no locks on all doors..
Also, we've noticed areas that have major safety issues. The pools by the restaurant have no water, and there's not even any guardrail or barrier to keep people from falling over! (there's an outdoor patio with tables & chairs just by the empty pool!) The steps to the pool from Reception have high & varying steps and with no guardrail or handrail at all! and there's uneven steps beside the pool without water. It should never pass safety; it's an accident waiting to happen. The management should take safety & privacy issues seriously.
All these we noticed within just 1 hour of entering the premises.
Due to these, we believe it's not worth going back to the place. There are other hotels & resorts with the same cost but are more safe & respects privacy.

We recently visited this HORRENDOUS resort hoping to get some rest amid the pandemic. If there is a harsher word for DISAPPOINTED, kindly enlighten us.

First, the facilities are not well managed. Stains on the floor and walls, in room dining plates and utensils were not dished out on time, hazardous elevator landing due to broken glass panels. Smoking nook and other public areas can be compared to an abandoned zone with untrimmed greens and poorly maintained landscaping. Families ought to rethink visiting this resort.

Second, the staff (though not all) are not well trained to handle guest queries and complaints. We asked for specific details re the restaurant and we were frequently answered with "I'm not sure" or "Idk maam/sir". In addition to that, the guest in the adjacent room also filed a complaint against our group for being too noisy. What makes it disheartening is that the Duty Manager should have physically checked our room to validate whether or not we were being rowdy inside before reprimanding us. We talked in modulated voices and the television was off all throughout the night. We felt more relaxed at home as opposed to staying in this HORRIBLE one-star resort.

Lastly, for the sake of your mental well-being, please book another hotel so you won't go through such hassle and inconvenience.

I super duper love the place because it is well -decorated, very clean, organized and you'll be surrounded by all of the hotel's human resources that addressed a quality services and have pleasing personalities. Specifically, the presence of service crews in the dining area, they all deserve praises and merits. (Vans, JP, Jean, and many more to mention.)
I can't wait to be back at the place again to spend more days with my family. Even at this time of pandemic, they make sure that all guests are safe and sound. Thank you so much for the best offers and services Solea Mactan Resort, here in Cebu. ❤️ Godspeed!

The rooms we booked were not the rooms we got. There were water leaks around the toilets, sadly the fridge was empty. The activities on the resort were all once off and not included in the overall experience. We expected that all the resort activities would be included for those prices. It was extremely difficult to get a taxi from the Hotel and the prices that the taxi's charged were never the same and sometimes ridiculous.

Upon arriving I was moved to a different floor and a different room which was upsetting. After cleaning of the rooms we hoped that they would've refilled the coffee sachets.

The location of the resort was ideal but the lack of and prices of transportation ruined it. The beach was somewhat beautiful sadly there was a lot of wood and broken of plants floating closeby the beach.

The staff were professional and the service was excellent and friendly. The WiFi in the Hotel was weak and disconnected a lot, we had to use our own data. The TV provided on the room was quite small and at night half of the channels did not work or the image quality was bad.

It would have been nice if there were some books or board games in the rooms. Though by far the biggest disappoinment was that the swimming pools closed at 9.00PM, why were we treated like children at a Holiday Resort which we paid for?

There were clear rules about no smoking and the fines attached to it, though I did not spot a single area where we could Vape or Smoke, not even on the beautiful sky bar.

All and all it was a great experience, I'd recommend to make extra sure when checking in about the fine details so that your overall trip won't be ruined by unnecessary pettiness.

Its my to-go place for a day off (day use of facilities)
The cost is 1500/person, but they give you back 750ps as consumable in the restaurant
The resto is delicious, the bar is nice, the pools clean if shallow (no deep pool for us kanos).
The main attraction is the beach, huge, clean and usually empty-ish
Imported white sand instead of the normal sea bottom mud and sludge.
Good sea breakers, so no huge waves or currents
The fellow visitors are those who can afford the price, so no beggars etc
