The hotel and restaurant is very old but it has a long tradition. Food is very fresh and tasty and genuine italian in the restaurant. Service people are very friendly and open for a talk. Hotel rooms big but to be renovated.

Reception is closed in the afternoon. Breakfast Buffet is Good average. I would have loved to dine there. Very Hospital Italian styled rooms. The shower could be little bigger but enough for Business Trip.

We endured quite a hard drive to Rastatt and it would have been nice to have received a slightly warmer greeting. my room was in the annex and whilst very large - basically it was a small suite - it was pretty basic. Clean though and everything functioned. The restaurant certainly feels as though ti was in Italy but again, had it been there, might have been rather more welcoming. The food was good, certainly above average, but was marred by slow service and we gave up on dessert as they seemed more interested in local customers in the front of the restaurant. The breakfast was better and the manageress provided more of the welcome we had been expecting. Probably would revist however.

Nice old building. Largest room we had on this trip. Room was clean and well equipped. Breakfast (typical German) was super. Easy walk to town and Residenzschloss Rastatt. Lots of restaurants in area to walk to, including restaurant in Hotel.

We stayed at his hotel for one night as part of our Rhine River cycle tour. We do not recommend this for cyclists. There is no dedicated 'bicycle storage' garage - we locked our bike to an outdoor seat which was situated in an internal courtyard. The reception area is unattended between 2:30 - 5:30pm - there was no mention of this in our trip notes (we had arrived at 4:00pm). A staff member arrived at 5:00pm and did allow us entrance to our room. It was a very large room - one of 7 arranged around a small courtyard. The room contained a table & chairs (for 2 people), a very small TV (which required turning to the satellite by a staff member), a large open fire-place, timber panelled ceiling and frescos on the wall for decoration. The bed was large and comfortable. The room was heated by a very efficient oil heater which we were thankful for as it allowed our wet gear to dry overnight. Our luggage did not arrive until 7:30pm and we appreciated endeavours by the staff to contact our bike touring company to check on where the bike courier was located. We were slightly perturbed to find the internal smoke detector had been removed and relocated to the ceiling area just outside the front door! The breakfast room was located in the main restaurant area and decorated with many bottles of various sized vintage wines. The breakfast selection was very basic. We did leave our mobile phone charger and international adaptor convertor in our room but this was found by the staff and forwarded on with our luggage the next day.
