Awful hotel! Never stay here! This was worst hotel there we stayed. I choose it because of good reviews but my experience was different: 1. As we booked this hotel for my birthday we wrote message to hotel and asked for good room for couple with double bed instead of that we received worst room I've seen for years... First of all they gave us twin room instead of double. Nobody informed us about that. 2. Shower without lift (it was impossible to move it up and down. I've never seen such cheap and oldstyle system in hotels. 3. The shower is small (no "rain"). Now I understand why there is no different pictures of rooms/baths - because hotel is in very bad condition... 4. Ceiling with stains. There was flood in this room (before we came) and they even can't make repair works? 5. Toilet leaks non-stop 6. The door to the toilet sticks (it rides but something is broken) but there is no handle and it cannot be closed, and it can only be moved by force (a woman cannot close the door to the toilet). 7. Sink as from the last century (not only looks as if it is 20-30 years old, but also uncomfortable to use) 8. The shower doors not moving properly. Looks terrible. 9. There are dead bugs and flies in Bathroom 10. The elevator does not work normally (it passes by but does not stop on the floor). 11. The staff uses the same elevator as the guests and so even if the elevator arrives, then staff is inside with a huge basket of laundry, towels, etc. and you can't even enter elevator. 12. The reception desk is all shabby and looks old. 13. After check in administrator gave us a card that didn't worked and we had to drive up and down with luggage. 14. To park your car, you have to spend a lot of time (the distance from the rearview mirrors to the posts on the left and right - about 15cm (with a high probability you will crash your or rental car). 15. To enter the parking you must go down the circular traffic down to 3 levels (the place of passage is narrow), and on the right side you can constantly see black paint from cars that hit the wall) - very uncomfortable. 16. Despite the pre-order of double bed gave two single beds (unfortunately refused to change) 17. Hotel is using "Rituals" bottles in toilets but it's fake. There is usual cheap liquid soap inside. Maybe 20 years ago this hotel was good but today it's old and looks really bad. We were expecting the hotel management to offer some solution, unfortunatelly it didn't happened. Never stay here

Response from Vanda Simplicio, Serviços ao cliente/atendimento at Sesimbra Hotel & Spa
Responded 24 Nov 2023
Dear Mr. Dmitry T, First of all, we would like to thank you for choosing Sesimbra Hotel & Spa. We are sorry that this experience did not meet your expectations. Your booking was made on the same day of arrival, through a travel agency, without any request for a double bed. When you arrived and mentioned it, unfortunately we were unable to confirm it, since the hotel was already fully booked. The room you stayed in, is in good conditions. It is a room adapted for Guests with reduced mobility (the only one available on the same day), therefore, it has different characteristics according to those Guests needs. Other than that, it’s a normal standard room, large and with a great sea view. We have to say we are a serious hotel, that uses Rituals amenities and not fake ones. We take this chance to inform you that our hotel is now benefiting from renovation works, already planned and we hope to be able to welcome you again in the near future and have the opportunity to provide you with a pleasant stay. Yours sincerely. Vanda Simplicio (Front Office Manager Assistant)

Whilst not asthmatic I suffer from propellant sprays and many of their forced aromas. Having had a mild episode in Evora a couple of weeks before I messaged all our other bookings for advice on what they did in this arena. This hotel said none would be used in our room but they did use them in the common parts. All others (4) said they did not use chemical sprays. On arrival I soon collapsed. They actually PUMP chemicals into the lifts - my collapse was after the lift up from the deeep undergound car park. They PUMP it into Reception, the Dining room and the rest. In all my years I have never known pumped chemicals in an hotel. What it does for the staff I hate to think. We sacrificed a night's cost (they refunded 2) and left for a nearby lovely air BnB as soon a possible. My wife would add - the beach closes on 15 September (as do all in Portuga we now knowl) so you feel imprisoned in the hotel and their pool is badly situated and too small for the number of guests - with half in the shade from around 14.00. It is a large concrete pile lacking any soul. I would say the room was nice and well appointed; the underground parking is good too. The local waterfrot lacks style - a bit beers and heavy rock music. If the pumped spray is a legacy of Covid I urge them to stop it.

The staff at the hotel is amazing and the location is great!! The hallway to our room smelled bad and so did our room. We left our door open to make it smell better and to hear the waves all night. However we also had cigarette smoke drifting into our room all night as well. We were woken up to the sound of tables being set very loudly at 7:00 am and by trash being picked up. The room itself is very tired and needs to be updated. The bed is extremely uncomfortable.

All I can say is WOW WOW…. If you a winding down holiday then Sesimbra Hotel and Spa hits every box going. Sesimbra is a small fishing village with a glorious beach off the tourist route few bars and restaurants mainl Fish. The HOTEL is the best I have ever stayed in (I am 65 ) Straight onto the beach ( private enterance forHotel guest- infinity pool and loads of space all around the hotel. Bedrooms are very spacious-biggest bed I have ever slept in ) and. 100% Buffet Breakfast with free Cava. Every room has a balcony overlooking the sea. There is a lot more I could say BUT this hotel needs to be seen. Price excellant €160 per room - we went bit out of season End of Sept weather was sun sun sun 34c Treat yourselves- we added this on from 3 days in Lisbon.

Modern hotel with (mainly) great sea views. Booked seaview suite but was slightly disappointed that altho could see pool/ocean we also had an ugly view of the back of the apartment block just to side and front line of hotel. Suite clean and very spacious with 2 balconies but only furniture on one of them (why?) , lots of cupboards/shelves/areas that seemed to have been stripped of items and both wardrobes only had half-hanging lengths so dresses etc got creased. (again why?) Overall, clean property with helpful staff. Breakfast was somewhat basic and same repeat items every day compared to other hotels we have stayed at nearby. However, nicely presented and plenty for everyone. Excellent location and close to beautiful beach area. Several modern type cafes/bars 'underneath' but short walk to traditional eateries in the backstreets. Stay here few times a year due to partners business trips but would prob keep to a full seaview standard room in future.

Just spent a week at this hotel, it was wonderful. Great location, lovely views overlooking the beach. Staff were all very friendly, breakfast was great lots of choice, food and drinks in the bar were reasonable and used the spa area a few times which was great when the weather wasn’t perfect. Will defiantly stay again.

This is a beautifully designed hotel in a spectacular location. Excellent secure underground parking is provided. Rooms are spacious with small terraces and wonderful views over the beach to the sea. The pool area is lovely too. The included buffet breakfast was very good. A nice comfortable bar and an excellent restaurant serving dinner complete the picture. Staff in reception we're very efficient and helpful. The bar and restaurant staff we're also great.

Good hotel. Nice views from all rooms. Parking in garage under the hotel for free. Nice infinity pool and easy access to the beach by lift. The hotel is not too large (about 100 rooms) and therefore not too crowded at pool, breakfast etc. Rooms ok 4* standard but nothing special. Breakfast could be improved a bit e.g. more vegetables and better coffee. But still ok buffet for a few nights but maybe not for a week. Note that there will be loud music from the bars on the street on Friday and Saturday nights until 12…01 a.m.

Absolutely wonderful!!!!! The staff were kind and helpful. The view was beautiful. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was good. There are just a few things that could be improved, first is the temperature in the room was warm, I was unable to adjust to make it a little cooler in the evening. A bottle of water would have been a nice touch and lastly, maybe coffe maker in the room. Other than those things, everything else was perfect
