There is no doubt that the restaurant has been mentioned in the Michelin guide in the last couple of years and the fresh Trout from their own farm and ponds is fantastic. However, accommodation is not what you would expect from a 4 star property. Pine, German style decor which would be very cozy in Winter is fine. Rooms have...

Since we visit Europe at least once a year, and have done so for over 15 years, we have often eaten at Zur alten Muehl. It is a popular restaurant all year round and especially crowded during the summer. Going early at lunchtime is the best imo. They are famous for their trout, which they raise in ponds by restaurant....

it's a great German style Hotel/restaurant with good clean/comfortable room. the restaurant is definitely worth trying with their trout/fish specialty. The view in the morning is wonderful, especially in the fall.

Friendly welcome with quick resolution of booking mix-up - not their fault. Delicious dinner. Service friendly but occasionally amateurish, but these are from local villages. Room clean and chalet type. Tiny showers so would not suit the obese. Surroundings lovely. Great for hikers, although we had no time for that. Would certainly return

Dark fir ridges, small rivers in the valleys, mist over open meadows in the morning and small villages and towns - a great place to grow up and to come back later in life. This is the Black Forest. A paradise for hikers, a great region for cross country skiing in winter or for "slow travel" around the year. The...

We went here for an early dinner mid week. The restaurant is really quaint and comfortable. The welcome could have been better, we arrived to a completely empty restaurant but were asked if we had a reservation and when we said no the book was closely checked to see if we could be fitted in (only 4 other diners arrived...

One of my favorite places in the Black Forest. I have been going here for over 10 years each summer. The restaurant is fantastic. Rooms are typical of a small Gasthaus in Germany but all the staff do an excellent job.

We stayed for one night en route to Italy. It was great to find such a nice hotel that wasn't that far from the A8 motorway at Pforzheim. The hotel is located in an accessible but quiet spot, and it really felt like we were on holiday in the Black Forest rather than staying one night as a stopover at...

I spent 3 nights at this hotel. Room and bathroom were ok, something you can expect from a privately owned German hotel. They were well-sized, very clean and comfortable. A wireless internet connection on the room was available, although not always running well. Due to the remote location, it is absolutely quiet there and I slept very well. The hotel...

Stayed at this hotel in April 2008 for one night. Location is near Pforzheim. Seemed a more charming setting than most of the hotels in town. (northern black forest / schwarzwald) Double room was 92 euro (incl breakfast). Room was clean and comfortable with a lovely fluffy duvet. Had a decent enough meal in the country style restaurant specialized in...
