Absolutely criminal to charge £13.50 for a frozen pizza you can buy in Iceland for £1. Food was atrocious. The room was very nice and bed comfortable but food a complete let down! ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL!

From booking in all the staff were exceptional helpful and friendly. The hotel was full with also a Wedding function. Booked our dinner in the restaurant at 20:00 and amazed the service we had nothing was off the menu. Every table was full but the staff worked as one in a tremendous team spirit. We had our 3 course meal served with no long waits and a smile. Rooms are fine and breakfast which we had booked for 9:30 was excellent. Again every table was full. A really nice overnight stay.

I had a voucher for afternoon tea / virgin experiences/. It was very easy to book. The food was really nice. Everything fresh. Nice restaurant. Polite staff. Would recommend . We also went on the steam train. Which was ok. But could be better.

We stayed for two nights with a group of friends - 16 of us. As with many places post Covid lockdowns etc the hotel appeared a little short of staff - however this was obviously neither the hotels or staffs fault. Some confusion and lack of management in a couple of areas but the staff themselves, without exception, were nothing but polite and helpful for which they should be commended. I hope Mercure are appreciative and recognise the effort that the staff are clearly making in difficult times. A wedding on both days meant that it was busy and a little noisy on both afternoons and evenings. Perhaps they should not have booked so many other guests in but I am sympathetic to the need to rebuild the business and gain some much needed revenue. Room a little tired and when things are better some investment is needed. Thanks again to the excellent staff.
