This is a tough review as this resort should have rated 5 stars, however, the boat ride from the dock to the resort was worse than the scariest ride at Universal Studios, except this ride was for real. Apparently this was a rare experience based on discussion with other guests at the resort, regardless it still needs to be mentioned....

I feel compelled to come on here and leave a review after several friends shared how their experience at Batu Batu was ruined due to terrible service. I can genuinely say that this was not the case for us. Apparently, there is a new General Manager and Assistant Manager, and they have done an excellent job improving the overall service...

Though to tell what the highlights were during our 7 night stay on this remote island... probably the overwhelming friendliness of all staff (no exception!), probably the fact that we saw turtles everyday when paddling along the island's shore (plus dolphins, plus iguana, plus sea lion, plus plus plus), or maybe it was the fact that we were almost the...

We are an older couple (OK both over 70!) stayed there for 4 nights at the end on November 16 for a bit of a beach break between a stay in HK and Singapore. Everything within the hotel's control was wonderful. We had a large and private bungalow with lovely views out to sea but a short work to the...

Spent 4D3N at Batu Batu Resort with my boyfriend and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly thanks to the warm hospitality of John, George and the team! Such an awesome time lazing around the beach bar, swimming in the pool overlooking the sea as well as the good food we get everyday even though it's on a 3 days meal plan. It was...

This place is paradise!!!! The pictures are true, the water is really that clear: welcome to the Maldives within a few hours drive of KL or Singapore. The jetty experience is pleasant. One small negative is that when we disembarked, we were kind of left without knowing what to do, where to go: 2 staff members were there, but they...

An amazing island with beautiful beaches, which always seem empty. Swimming, either in the beautiful clear sea or in the infinity pool is a real pleasure. The accommodation is superb and the food is excellent. The only down side are the mosquitos, which you have to protect yourself from, especially if you take the island walk. In the villas and...

A large group of us went to Batu Batu for a birthday celebration. The venue is simply beautiful with a lot of stuff to do so would recommend for a family holiday any time. In our case, meals were customized, areas were reserved for celebrations and some activities designed for our needs. Bala and his team were absolutely fantastic and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
BATU BATU is a rustic private island resort set amongst coconut groves, rocky outcrops and fine sand beaches on the tropical, uninhabited island of Pulau Tengah, Malaysia in the South China Sea. This simple resort is built from a variety of hard woods in the style of a Malay "kampung" or village. BATU BATU welcomes families with children. Whilst on Pulau Tengah, adults and children alike can enjoy the island's eight white sandy beaches, snorkel or dive amongst its colourful coral reefs and kayak or walk around its 3km perimeter. The open-sided pavilion restaurant and bar has 270-degree views across the sea and serves delicious European and Asian dishes. Guests can choose to relax with a cold drink at the Beach Bar, soak in the sea, play on the large white sand beaches or embark on an adventure through the island's dense forest. ... more   less
