Booked a suite for my wife and I for my birthday in January. Upon arrival we were given directions to the room, but ended up wandering around lost for around 15 minutes as the place is a maze and is not well signposted. A receptionist actually taking us to the room would have been more helpful. There seems to be only one small lift servicing the entire hotel and as our suite was located at the top of the hotel, this became somewhat of a nuisance. The suite itself was OK, if on the small side for a suite, with no separate seating area. Having said that, it was pretty clean, aside from a few hairs in the bathtub which was no great issue. Bed was huge and very comfortable and the TV was perfectly adequate. TV in the bathroom was also a nice touch. We didn't have an evening meal in the hotel but did venture into the bar for a drink. The bar was very quiet but it was early January so not entirely unexpected. Drinks were fine but a little on the pricy side. Had a brief wander around the grounds the following morning which were immaculate. The usual buffet breakfast was unavailable due to lack of guests, so we opted for the cooked breakfast, which arrived promptly and was very good. Some of the areas of the hotel come across as a bit tired and some of the decor seemed a bit questionable for the age of the building in my opinion. There is a more modern dining annexe which although perfectly clean and tidy, didn't really fit in with the rest of the building. Couldn't fault the staff who all seemed friendly and efficient

I am writing this review under my husband's profile for an afternoon tea my friend and our 2 sons had on October the 16th. From start to finish we had a wonderful time being looked after by Luke who was only to kind to show our son's the table football and ping pong room which allowed us to enjoy our food and drinks which were lovely. The cakes and sandwiches were just enough which all were lovely and freshly made. We decided to sit in the bar area in front of the fire place which I would do again as is a lovely open light space. To finish off we took a walk in the Japanese gardens which are kept beautifully and the children loved exploring and highly recommend you take the time to enjoy . Can't wait to go back . . . . . .

On arrival at Fanham's hall I thought my room was a little "tired". As it was the first thing we saw I didn't have high hopes for the stay. I was wrong. I had booked 2 other rooms for my parents and my brother to attend our cousin's wedding. These rooms were lovely (5 & 6) and the reception staff kindly gave me a ground floor room so my parents didn't have to tackle the stairs. Everything was wonderful and we had such a great time. The main thing for me was the staff. They were all absolutely brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble, everything done with a smile and they made the stay very comfortable for us. Nicole in the breakfast room seemed to be working everywhere. Angel and Ben in the bar and Georgina on reception stood out but their colleagues where all just as helpful. I have had a pub and restaurant so I know how hard this job is and when you have a constant stream of wedding guests to attend to it must get a bit tough but you would never know it. Thanks so much for a great stay and keep up the good work.

We have stayed at Fanhams previously. Very reasonably priced. On arrival, we decided to upgrade our room as we had previously stayed in 'Holly' which has a great view over the Rose Garden. There are over 70 rooms in total at Fanhams. The change of room was no issue for Georgina on Reception. After clarifying our chosen room was available, she offered to help with our luggage and took us to our room. 'Holly' is up on the second floor and guests need to be aware that some rooms are more accessible by lift than others. Parts of the hotel are more modern, however we prefer the older more traditional areas. Parts of the hotel are a little 'tired', and the bathroom in 'Holly' is certainly a little quirky however everywhere is comfortable. Our bed was Superking and with lovely linen. Very comfortable. 5 Star. Good choice at our inclusive breakfast. 5 Star food for our evening meal on the Monday night however not all items on the Menu were available and service was a little haphazard despite there being very few diners. Ample car parking. Preferable to drop off luggage at Reception then go and park. Gardens are super and well kept with gardeners at work. Well done Steve! Our preference is for the older Jacobean building. The function rooms are super. On entering Reception, covid care is evident with screens for Reception and an automated temperature machine. As we had not seen one of these before, Reception was able to clarify the procedure should someone record a high temperature. It was good to know that staff have awareness should a potential covid case be detected. Well done for this. Gemma and Georgina and Sophie in Reception were the key members of staff that demonstrated key customer service skills. And as I mentioned, well done to Steve and his team for keeping the gardens looking great 👍
