An adorable small "homestay" by the rice paddies. Lovely staff. The owner, David, is a creative man of many passions who uses Yabbiekayu not just to delight guests and provide locals with work opportunities, but also as a cutting edge experiment on bio sustainable living. Of course, it takes a specific mindset to appreciate this hotel. It is not about...

I stayed at Yabbiekayu with my other half back in 2014 and to this day, it is STILL our favorite bungalow/homestay that we have ever stayed at. It was a little difficult to find but that was also fun. You drive in these back roads off of the main street and when you arrive, you are greeted with wonderful, bright,...

I was doing a Yoga retreat in the little village of Tembi and Yabbiekayu was the place where we were based. It was the perfect surrounding and had the tranquil atmosphere you need for practicing Yoga. Tembi is not made to have cars coming thru except for the occasional pick up Taxi and you have the feeling being back in...

As are the edible surrounding gardens! The...

I recently stayed at Yabbiekayu Homestay Bungalows for two nights with my son and his wife. Staying at Yabbiekayu gave us a unique taste of old Javanese living. It is hidden away in a small village area on the edge of paddy fields, just 8km south of Yogjakarta. Each of the Javanese wooden houses (bungalows) had an old worldly feeling,...
