Our room overlooked the garden and included a terrace. It was very clean, comfortable, a good size with ensuite shower. There was also a fridge in room. Our host was welcoming, friendly and accomodating - speaks only a little English. We decided to go for the continental breakfast about 6 Euros each which was satisfactory. Good signal, free wifi was a plus. Note: only cash is accepted. Free parking on site. There is a small supermarket within walking distance. We only stayed one night as we were travelling around Corcisa, but wished we had stayed longer. Would definitely recommend.
We ended up at this little guesthouse in Galeria pretty much by accident after heavy rain washed us out of our campsite near Porto. It's a small place but very pleasant & comfortable. The owner is really nice and friendly although she doesn't speak much English. Great value at just €50 a night.
It was April. It was our haven for the night. We'd taken a wrong turn and ended up going the 'wrong way' (anti-clockwise) from Calvi on the coast road. After hours of nail-biting driving we finally arrived at Galeria. The only restaurant we could find had 'no gas today' and so there was nothing hot, but we stuck it out. After a brief time we found U Filipaghju after parking the car and going for a walk through the village. We had to knock on the side door and ask if there was a room for the night. OUI! The downstairs left flat was ours. It was clean, modern and the bed was good. PDJ was good. I can't remember, but I think we paid cash just about everywhere we went in Corsica, and I think we paid cash here. There was a nice little village shop where we picked up a few bits of things, right opposite the local primary school (given the racket!). This was one of the best small places we stopped in and it was done with no pre-booking (at least in April!).…
We stayed at U Filipaghju for three nights in July this year. Galeria is a beautiful little fishing village, perfect for exploring the area if you are walkers, but also a perfect place to wind down, relax on the beaches, an go for a boat ride to Scandola. The room we stayed in was clean, well decorated and completely satisfied our needs. The pictures are accurate. Lovely shower. Our host was welcoming, friendly and accomodating. Would recommend going for the breakfast option at 5 euros a head per morning - there is little other option in the village - the boulangerie was offering similar food / amounts for six euros. The breakfast was lovely and just the right amount. Free wifi is a bonus, and the air conditioning works well - and was a welcome break from the heat outside. Worth pointing out that she takes cash only at the time we went (July 2013), and there is no cash point in Galeria. You can however go to La Poste in the village and withdraw cash if you have some ID with you. Highly recommend.…
