Such a relaxing place to stay! The swimming pool is lovely and the gardens are beautiful. I enjoyed wandering round spotting the fruit and vegetables that Jean-Pierre grows and uses. At breakfast we were served freshly squeezed orange juice from the garden. The jams (eg clementine, prune) were so good! I brought a jar home which I am rationing ;) There are hammocks to use, a ping pong table... I recommend just chilling by the pool, looking at that lovely clementine tree in full bloom, enjoying the peace and a leisurely dip when you need to cool down... Jean-Pierre is a fantastic host! Thoughtful and easy-going. Always happy to help but doesn't intrude on your quiet time. My daughter was struggling with the heat so we stayed around the house/pool all day one day and it didn't feel awkward at all, like we were being a nuisance. We flew into Bastia and it takes 2 hours to drive to the B&B. It isn't necessary to do much driving after that if you don't want to. There are a couple of restaurants 200 yards up the road (no designated driver necessary!). Swimming at the river at Pontevecchio (1 or 2km away) is beautiful and memorable. There is a shop in Galeria (10 mins ish drive) for basic lunch essentials. Also a very good fish restaurant (but avoid the cuttlefish- it's really only for budgies!!) Very highly recommended!…
A truly welcoming place to stay, a peaceful escape from the hectic beach scene in Calvi, beautiful setting surrounded by the mountains and close to Galeria and the beach. Bathing in the Fango by the Ponteveccio Génoise bridge is a unique experience. Breakfast on the terrace is memorable meal.
This was our first evening in Corsica and we couldn't have been more impressed. Our host, Jean Pierre, was so welcoming and friendly. Our room was small but comfortable with a private patio looking out on the majestic mountains. A delicious breakfast with home made jam and baked goods. Jean Pierre sent us off with some of the clementine jam as a gift.
We stayed in this B&B for one night while doing the Mare e Monti hiking trail. Jean-Pierre was so friendly and welcoming and cooked us an amazing meal. We felt we got a very personal service, and that this isn't just a business for him. The house is very characterful and cosy and we got a good night's sleep.
My daughter and I travelled to Corsica this summer for two weeks. We spent the first week at Casaloha and it was a great start to our holiday. Our room was spacious and very clean, with a large en-suite bathroom and air-conditioning (which we appreciated in the high temperatures of summer!). The pool is gorgeous - a perfect place to hang out on those days that you don't feel like doing anything at all! Breakfast was delicious and extremely generous - we can't eat dairy, but this didn't phase our host Jean-Pierre, who made sure that we had tasty alternatives. His homemade jams are delicious (and available to buy), and on the last morning, we enjoyed homemade carrot cake baked freshly by Jean-Pierre. Clearly a man with many talents! I booked our room very early in the year - rooms get snapped up and I can see why! And I was extremely glad that I did. Using Casaloha as a base, we travelled to many of the local (and not so local) sites and really saw the beauty of the west coast. Then there were the days when we just 'stayed home' and enjoyed the comforts of Casaloha. Thanks to Jean-Pierre and to Isabelle for welcoming us into their home and making our stay in western Corsica so memorable.…
